Hi there, welcome to the silly little shenanigans that are Book four. So last we left off Noche escapes Limbo with Raven and returns to the first battlefield between Cross vs. DeathTech to find Medusa was dead. From there Edward appears and gives Boots a choice between sacrificing himself to save his sister or to let her die. Noche demonstrates her ability to fuck up grievously by taking away that choice and keeping Boots alive against his will. Oopsie poopsie.
Edward transforms into Creeps and the eldritch being carves its face onto the moon. Noche and co make their way back to Cross in shame. Shame! Upon arriving a trial is quickly set up for Boots, but it was a trap to lure Noche onto live television. From there the Grave brothers accuse her of causing the genocide of the PLC village Tak was from.
Naturally, Noche reacts in the worst way possible. Snapping from all the stress of being a strong, independent, white woman. She accidentally kills the judge, fights off a thousand Cross soldiers, and overall says fuck the police. However, the Grave brothers politely requested she respect their authority by threatening to kill her comatose friend Cherries.
From there Noche is brought to Galloway, who is in fact not senile and intends to turn her into a super warrior. He is sending her to the asylum to master her new corruption ability since the only way she can escape is by mastering it. To motivate her he ordered the Grave brothers to torture her horrendously. Fun stuff. About three chapters of gore later, and a fun scene involving her left eye and a syringe full of acid, Noche mentally breaks and the Grave brothers abandon her.
However, the darkness they leave her in reminds her of that desert and snaps her out of the safe space she made in her head. She finally manifests corruption on her own and it takes her about two years in the dark to master it. Then one day she somehow senses something approaching the asylum far outside her little cell. A gut feeling tells her if she wants revenge she would have to escape today. Almost as if she has supernatural powers or something. Crazy, right?
Noche escapes using corruption and starts fighting other inmates on the way out, cause obviously the first thing you do after two years of imprisonment is to punch someone.
Meanwhile, a helicopter arrives at the asylum with the Cross Generals, Shaylin, Tak, Mary, Alice, and Vida who are all here to rescue Medusa, who turns out to be still alive. They confront the Grave brothers, but the wily twins decide to act naughty and run away. Locking the front door behind them. Shaylin manages to hack the front doors, Dreg runs down to where Medusa is being held, and once rescued she reminisces about her past before she became president.
Of course, before all this happens, Noche encounters her old guardian Baxter, that one Timmy Timebomb guy she arrested in act two, and of course her dear friend Boots who has totally forgiven her for basically murdering his sister. Really. Ok, not really. He kicks her in the face.
Anyways the four of them use the power of friendship and excessive violence to make their way up the asylum tower. Encountering the prison guard bell divers, a surreal trip through an elementary school, and a giant anglerfish among other things.
They make it to the entrance where they encounter the Grave brothers fleeing the Cross generals. Literally seconds after the twins run away and lock the front door. Shit goes down and Baxter appears to have died. Noche expresses her sorrow in a calm and healthy manner by losing all control and slicing Timmy's neck open by accident.
She then chases the Grave brothers further up the asylum tower a few minutes before Shaylin hacks open the front door. Noche acts like she's the main character or something and challenges the twins. However since she forgot her life is hard mode they beat her senseless, ripping off her one remaining arm.
All things go to hell when they tell her they killed Cherries and then they take her choker, all that she has left to remember him by, and throw it into the ocean. Noche unleashes her inner chunibyo and mutates into a weird anglerfish humanoid monster hybrid. From there she wraps herself in a cocoon of corruption when her hate becomes too much.
When the cocoon hatches a black knight with a crow feather cloak steps out and its immediate response is to start screaming. It's so loud and annoying that all the light and sound in the universe decided it wasn't worth it and dipped out. Leaving everything, everywhere, all across the vast cosmos dark and silent.
From there black knight Noche proceeds to kick the asses of both Grave brothers so effortlessly that it's almost pathetic. She manages to kill Red, but Blue escapes with the help of a shadow energy being made from their super illegal human experiments. When light and sound return the asylum finally blares its alarm and the hydra is summoned. A super-sized titan the size of a small continent.
Noche reunites with everyone back at the asylum and they make plans to escape. All in all the Generals distract the hydra as the helicopter flies everyone away. However, there are too many hydra heads and Noche has to unlock a new corruption power to defeat them. She can make a left eye out of pure corruption and whatever she stares at explodes into white flames. A most busted and overpowered ability.
Raven shows up, decides to whip out his dick, and outdo Noche's corruption with his own pillar of corruption large enough to destroy the hydra completely. It's so big that it makes the planet look like a golf ball sitting on a white tee.
Anyways, he fucks off and the helicopter flies away. Noche regenerates drive, fires a powerful dead light cannon that makes a wall of water from the north pole to the south pole, then proceeds to cry when she sees the sun. End of book four bitches!
