MULTIVERSE.
1777, APRIL 10th, SUNDAY 7:34pm.
Noche had died over a hundred deaths and each one was memorable. The sensation of life ebbing away from her body until it was all gone. It was a feeling only she could have experienced – going beyond the point of no return, and then doing the impossible by returning.
The blonde submerged herself in an ocean of her deaths. It washed over her with such intensity that for a moment she expected to open her eyes and wake up in Limbo. Black mist manifested around her body and soon she was surrounded by shadows. Her body flickered and glowed with golden light. Soon she was an incandescent yellow ray outlined by black. Like the top of a lighthouse on a stormy night.
A few reflections made it to Noche's location as she took this form. Over a dozen jumped for her – the shockwave blasted them all back as Noche ripped space and time. Her senses spread beyond the world, beyond the solar system, beyond the universe.
She had always had a sixth sense of sorts, an understanding of things that she shouldn't have logically known. Like when the helicopter was approaching the asylum. Or overhearing the conversation between Timmy and Baxter after she had left the house. The more time went on, the stronger this supernatural awareness became, but now it was like her third eye had fully opened.
Noche was everywhere. Noche was everything. Noche was everyone.
For a fraction of a fraction of a second she had become one with existence. Then her consciousness separated from that oneness and returned to its limited mortal form. She had opened a door that could never be closed, unlocked a power that could never be sealed away again.
She had meant to instantly teleport up the mountain, instead, she had slingshotted herself across the multiverse. Noche flew across the sky as cavemen chased a dinosaur with clubs and spears, the sky shattered and she was in the cosmos. Spaceships out of a sci-fi show were shooting lasers at each other.
Space shattered and she bounced across the ground of a grassy plain. She stood up to find what looked like a knight, a wizard, and a rogue fighting a giant red dragon. Some sort of arcane sigil of orange energy formed in front of the wizard-looking dude as he shouted some random gibberish.
Next thing she knew giant orange strips of magical energy looped around the dragon's wings and it fell back to the ground.
"I've casted earthbind! Now is the time to attack!"
The rogue threw a dagger towards the dragon's eye as the warrior charged in with his longsword and shield. Before Noche could see any more the ground cracked and exploded – she was once again falling through an interdimensional rift.
She was tossed into an empty city. The buildings and cars appeared as if they'd been abandoned for half a century. There were no signs of life and it appeared to be some sort of post-apocalypse place.
"Where the hell am I?" Noche asked.
A giant green person stepped out into the open. He had a sledgehammer with what appeared to be a rocket attached to one end.
"Human!"
He ran towards her and swung – the rocket activated and the sledge was sent flying towards her head. Noche didn't move, didn't even raise her hand to block. Not because she was too slow, but because she was convinced it wouldn't harm her. She was right.
