CROSS UNDER ATTACK.
1777, APRIL 04th, MONDAY 11:10am.
A cacophony of caws filled the air as black feathers rained from the sky. A murder of crows so vast it darkened the air above. Below an army of DeathTech soldiers fought against Cross soldiers near the entrance to their HQ. All the while, the birds of death stood below the clouds on platforms of air.
"Is this necessary?" Dove asked.
"Do we have any other choice?" Raven said.
"You know we do."
"Any other choice that allows our survival?"
Dove didn't respond for a moment. "Maybe doing the right thing is more important."
Raven sighed. "Somebody wake up Magpie. We should get started."
"What about our new Vulture?" Owl asked. "Isn't he showing up?"
"You know that zee is working in MoveCity," Falcon said.
"Fuck off – I just thought this'd be an exception."
"No exceptions!"
"Knock it off you two," Raven interjected. "We're getting started."
"One thing of note," Dove said. "Watch out for Shaylin Gears. She will be the most dangerous threat today."
The four other birds all turned to Dove; she continued speaking undaunted.
"Her intellect surpasses Professor Grim at his prime," she said. "Shaylin may very well be the smartest person on the planet."
"Even smarter than you?"
Dove nodded. "I have access to more information than she does... However, her brain is wired to process things far better than any of us can. Once she knows where here, she'll be prepared."
"Right, watch out for the red head," Raven nodded. "Alright birds, let's fly."
Owl and Falcon groaned.
"Ok, seriously? Never said that again," Owl snapped.
"Zhat was zee worst thing I have ever heard!" Falcon yelled. "Apologize immediately!"
Raven rubbed the back of his head and Dove chuckled. Magpie's eyes snapped open.
"I'm awake! I'm awake. Whaaa—" she yawned. "What I'd miss?"
"Let's fly!" Raven shouted.
Shaylin through ballistic acorn after ballistic acorn. Each one exploded into a metal tree. It was a simple... Ok, complicated device. Simple in theory though. The metal acorn contained a brain map of the electrical signals used in Shaylin's brain when she wanted to create a metal tree. On impact, the acorn did an electrical pulse that mimicked those signals. Thus causing a reaction on the drive energy stored within.
Needless to say, having so many made in advance was a wise decision. As she pinned DeathTech soldier after DeathTech soldier, buying precious seconds while her mind ran scenarios. One tried to sneak behind her, but her eye radar picked it up. She turned and caught it with a ballistic acorn as well.
Prismatic energy gathered around her back and became a jetpack. She flew up into the air and got a bird's eye view of her surroundings. With that, she targeted all the nearby DeathTech soldiers with a cascade of prismatic energy. A split second later a field of napalm ignited.
Nearby Tak had grabbed a soldier by the head, frozen his hand to the thing's noggin, and slammed it into a wall. With his free hand, he punched it over and over again however the bloody mess transformed into an open mouth and bit down on his fist. He froze that too and slammed the soldier into the ground. Freezing the whole thing in ice.
