(Nora's POV)
"How are you feeling?" Dad asked, coming to take the seat that mom had just vacated. I looked at him, trying to give him a smile but my shoulder twinged and I knew I hadn't made my mark just by the look on his face.
"Honestly? I'm in pain, but I had a talk with mom and I feel a little lighter." I said, doing my best to shrug with one shoulder. It wasn't easy with Dawn's head weighing me down on my good side.
"What did the two of you talk about?" He asked curiously. I let out a laugh.
"No way." I said firmly. "It was girl talk."
"Sorry." He held his hands up. "My bad, didn't mean to invade on girl talk."
"You should be sorry." I said, giving a fake huff.
"I'm glad you're okay, Nora." He said, the conversation turning serious. "Please don't ever scare us like that again. I know you heal, but I don't want you getting hurt like this. It's dangerous."
"I know." I sighed. "I should have talked to you before I just left with Oliver. Danny and I are hardly even out of training yet. We have had all of one solo mission. It didn't even stay solo, you and Uncle Cisco had to come and intervene."
"I'm sure you were doing your best." He said, giving me a soft smile.
"Not at all." Dawn piped up, lifting her head from my shoulder to sit up. "Nora and I swore we could handle things but it was Axel Walker and we both ended up washing some unknown gunk from our hair for a week."
I watched her shiver in disgust at the memory. I also cringed. My hair hadn't felt the same after that.
"I'm sure that the two of you are going to be amazing once you finish training." He said honestly, trying to cover his laugh. Dawn rolled her eyes and turned to me.
"He's only laughing because he didn't have to wash that shit out of his hair." She said, making me laugh. I winced when I jostled my shoulder too much.
"Hey now, watch the language." He warned. "I have to go check on your mother, will you two be okay alone for a moment?"
I looked up at Dawn, hoping that she would be able to tell I needed a moment alone. This was one of those times that being a twin came in handy.
"Uh, dad, I'll come with, actually." Dawn said, jumping up from the bed. "I want to talk with mom anyway."
"Oh, okay." He nodded. "Will you be okay alone, Nora?"
"Yeah, I have to make a phone call anyway." I smiled, watching the two of them leave the room. I picked up my phone once I knew that they were far enough away that my call wouldn't be heard.
