Haneul walked amongst the number of guest that surrounded her, smiling and bowing politely. She was use to interacting with her fathers business partners and colleagues as she often attended these company events. She knew that she would eventually have to take her rightful place as the next heir of their family empire and so she saw no harm in getting use to the chaos.

"Haneul!" She was broken out of her thoughts as she heard her father's voice calling for her. She looked up and met her fathers gaze. He was smiling and waving her over to where he was standing. She excused herself and quickly made her way over to him.

"Yes, dad?" she asked as she approached.

"Haneul, say hello to Mr.Park. Do you remember meeting him sweetheart? He is one of my great friends and we have worked on many projects together, you were only a child when you two first met." Her dad exclaimed. "He has been abroad working and training  his son for the past few years but is finally back." he continued playfully patting Mr.Park's shoulder.

"Ah yes, hello Mr.Park it is so nice to finally see you in person and not just in the picture my father keeps in his office." Haneul laughed as she bowed her head making playful conversation.

"Yes, I know! I haven't seen you since you were a little girl Hanuel. I can't believe you're already an adult studying in the top university. I can see why your are your fathers pride and joy." Mr. Park remarked causing Haneul to beam a bright smile and bow her head shyly.  "I will deliver an apology from my wife, she got quite sick on the flight over and could not make the event tonight. She was looking forward to seeing you Haneul." Mr.Park explained to which she only smiled and shook her head in understatement.

"...and where is Sunghoon Mr.Park?" Her dad asked catching both of their attention.

"Oh, he...he did come in with me but I'm not sure where he wondered off to. You can never tell with him." Mr.Park sighed as he looked around for his son.

"We should find him, I think this is the perfect opportunity for them to finally meet." Haneul's dad suggested. The two older men gave each other a knowing look, which confused Haneul.

"Sunghoon?" She asked.

"Yes, Sunghoon is Mr.Park's son. I think you both are similar in age but you two never had the chance to meet each other before they left abroad." Her dad explained.

"He was not too happy about the anno-" Mr.Park's sentence was inturrupted by Haneul's father clearing his throat aggressively.

"Mr.Park" he said placing his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Haneul is still not aware of the...news. Let's find Sunghoon first and we can explain everything to them both." Her dad said only causing her to become more confused.

'explain what?' she thought to herself as she watched the two older men walk away on a mission to find this Sunghoon guy.

As time passed, Haneul continued to greet and hold conversation with the guest. She also occasionally found herself trying to guess what news her dad had in store for her that he would need to sit her down and explain. 'could it be a project for the company?' she thought.

"Haneul!" She was broken out of her thought again, however this time it was by her older cousin, Kim Sunoo.

"Sunoo?" She said as she watched him quickly approaching her with a big smile of his face.

"Sunoo, what are you doi-"

"Congradulations Haneul!" He cut her off before she finish her question.

"Congratulations? F-for what?" This time Haneul was really confused. There was nothing for her to be congratulated for.

"Don't act dumb Haneul, uncle just told me the new! I can't believe you're actually getting married!" Sunoo exclaimed happily as he gave his cousin a hug.

"Sunoo I'm not getting married..." She said feeling as if she was in a fever dream. 'is this real life?' she thought to herself as she pulled away from the hug.

"I'm not getting married Sunoo." this time she said more confidently and sure of herself.

"umm, but uncle said that he was looking for your fiance so you could announce your engagement...that's why everyone is here..." this time it was Sunoo who was confused looking at his cousin trying to see if she was just putting on an act to throw him off.

"SUNOO! SUNOO!" both of their attention turned to Haneul's dad who was fastly approaching the two. By the look on Haneul's face he could tell that Sunoo had spilled the secret.

"What did you tell her?" He questioned.

"I just said what you said..." Sunoo answered looking between the two.

"YAH! I told you not to say anything to her." Her dad said frustratingly as he rubbed his temple.

"You did?!?" Sunoo exclaimed covering his mouth. "I'm so sorry, did I ruin the surprise? I didn't know that she didn't know!" Sunoo tried to explain himself to his uncle.

"Dad but I'm not getting married..." Haneul said barley above a whisper but loud enough for them to hear.

"W-what?" Sunoo asked.

"Never mind that Haneul, now that you dear cousin here can't seem to keep his mouth shut come with me...people are starting to whisper among themselves."

Haneul was feeling a mix of shock and confusion about the information that was just relieved to her as her father led her up to the stair case gathering everyone's attention.

"Excuse me everyone! Please may I have your attention." He announced loud enough for everyone to hear. She looked out into the sea of people and for the first time in a long time Haneul felt like a deer in headlights.

"I'm sure that many of you have probably overheard from the commotion just a little bit ago as to the real reason why we are here tonight." He dad said with a smile. "As many of you know, this is my daughter and next heir of the KIM Enterprise, Kim Haneul." He said motioning to his daughter.

Haneul bowed to everyone as she anticipated what her dad was going to say. "For many years she has been my pride and joy. So I am saddened naturally as a father but also very happy to announce her engagement to Park Sunghoon, the heir of Park Corporation and son of Mr. Park who many of you know." He explained.

Haneul felt her stomach drop as she heard the words come out of her fathers mouth.

"D-dad?" She quietly hesitated to question.

"So please join me as we toast to this amazing news!"

"..but Dad.." she insisted.

"smile and raise your glass Haneul people are watching and recording." He said between his teeth.

With that she lowered her head before raising it again with forced fake smile and raising her glass to toast with everyone else.
