Despite It All

Unbeknownst to you, Shin did remember that day in high school. Even more than that, he had known about you and Hiyori your whole relationship.

He'd known Hiyori before you, and he felt a tinge of jealousy when suddenly he rounded the corner one day and you were holding his hand.

But if that's what Hiyori wanted, Shin would also respect that. It's not like he wanted Hiyori. He was just jealous that his only friend was suddenly going to be busy with other things.

Except the opposite happened. The more Hiyori spent with you, the more he wanted to spend with Shin, which led to that scene underneath the stairs.

Shin didn't want that in any way. Even if you weren't dating Hiyori.

He pounced on him like an animal, and held his face in his hands,

"You're mine. You know that, right?"

And Shin was silent. Because he was scared. Hiyori had that crazy look in his eye that he got whenever he talked about his plans for the future. Shin couldn't remember what they were anymore, but he knew at the time. How could he have forgotten something that he remembered being drilled into his head so viciously?

"I... I know..." He said, hesitantly.

"You'll always be... my number one. Even more... number zero."

Cue you. "...Hiyori?"

Shin read a news article on his phone. A band he listened to had... well, disbanded. The drummer had murdered someone. He read the article with a frown on his face, disappointed. The lead vocalist stated, "I can't sing this band's songs anymore." And that was that.

A customer walked in and went to the back, and Shin pocketed his phone, rolling his eyes. Why did every good band have to go to shit? Where was he supposed to find a good rock band that didn't do illegal things or have allegations against them?

Haha.

The customer came to the front of the store to check out their items. They wore an oversized hoody, which covered their face. However, once they'd placed down their items, they revealed their face, "Shin." He said.

And it was him. Shin didn't even need to look up at him. It'd been three and a half years, but Shin knew that voice. So he stared down at the items he'd placed and did nothing. He just stared.

"I've missed you." He continued.

"I didn't," Shin said quietly.

"Won't you look at me, Shinnie?"

"Don't call me that."

"Don't be like that." Hiyori reached out for Shin's face across the counter, and Shin slapped him away. He looked at him fiercely with tears in his eyes.

"Don't touch me."

"You touched me first," He countered. "Won't you ring me up?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"I have... the right to refuse service..." Shin was starting to feel scared. His brief moment of confidence had faltered, and he let it slip out of his grasp.

"Really? Well, that sure sucks."

"Get out." He whispered.

"I just wanted to see you, Shinnie. Where's Y/N?"
