It's been five months, nothing has changed. Keiji is still in jail, Hiyori hasn't contacted you, and you're still working with Shin.
...And he stays the night on the couch sometimes.
And you also... sort of maybe have a crush on him.
...You like him.
You can't tell how he feels about you. He likes you, but does he like you?
...Maybe. You weren't sure, though.
"Did you wanna stay the night tonight?" You asked Shin as he drove you home.
He hummed, "No... I need to do laundry and clean my house. Maybe another night?"
Your lip twitched a little, "Yeah, that's fine." And it was fine, but you always wanted to hang out with him.
"Tomorrow," He said, "For sure." And you smiled a little.
He dropped you off at home and you went to check the mailbox. You found the usual — bills, pizza advertisements, etcetera. You got to the bottom of your little pile to find a handwritten note.
"He was set up." It said in big letters. They were written perfectly. It was like a robot had done it.
You didn't understand the message. Who was he? Was this message even meant for you? You pulled out your phone and took a photo of it, sending it to Shin.

got this in the mail??
idk what it means.
Shin was driving, so it would be a while until he could respond. Even when he did respond, you couldn't imagine he'd understand it either. You'd never gotten anything like this in the mail. Were you in danger? Did you need to leave? Should you contact your landlord? Was it the young boy a few apartments over who sent that to you as a prank? Maybe you should talk to his mom just in case. You hadn't talked to either of them much, but you couldn't imagine him doing that. But you'd do it, just to be safe.
You stopped by your apartment to put your mail on the counter, except for the message, then closed and locked the door behind you, heading to the boy's apartment.
You knocked on the door and waited for almost a minute before a young woman opened the door. She looked tired, "Hello? Oh. You're the one who lives a couple of doors down," She rubbed her temples, "Y/N, right?"
You nodded your head, "Yeah. You're Miss Ibushi, right?"
She nodded her head. "Gin, please go to your room." She looked down, and you only then realized that her son had wrapped himself around her leg.
"Why, meow?!"
"I need to have a grown-up conversation with Mx. Y/N. Okay?"
"Woof! I am grown up!! I wanna hear too!!"
"Gin, so help me, God." She rubbed the sides of her head, trying to stay balanced with the extra weight on one side of her body. "I'll get you McDonald's tonight if you just go to your room for a few minutes, okay?"
Gin quickly scrambled up and ran away, and his mother sighed. "I'm sorry. Are we being loud? We'll try to be quieter but... please... Please don't complain to the landlord, I promise we'll be quieter..."
