For the past month, you've been doubting your relationship with Keiji. You don't know what started this decline in your feelings for him, but it felt like ever since he got the job he'd been dreaming of, he's been more irritable, which has caused more arguments. Maybe it's because he "joined for nothing" considering Tazuna quit — fired? You weren't sure. Or maybe it's because he's been under a lot more stress than he was previously.

More arguments, less time spending the night in the same bed.

His shifts just kept getting longer.

So you spent more time with the only other person you interacted with.

...Shin.

Not in a way where you were hanging out all the time, just that you guys talked a lot while you worked.

And he started driving you home whenever he could.

Except today he had the day off, so you worked alone.

This was the first time you hadn't worked with him since you started five weeks ago. You weren't nervous, because you knew how to do this job now, but maybe you should've been.

A customer came in wearing an oversized hoodie.

They walked up to the counter, set their things down, and took off the hood, revealing their face.

You hadn't even gotten the chance to open your mouth and greet them, yet.

"Hello Y/N." And you froze.

You imagine this must've been the same way Shin felt.

Except you were more than just scared or nervous.

You were angry.

You actually looked at him.

And he looked exactly the same.

His stupid pale face, green hair, and his crazy eyes.

"Why are you here?" You asked quietly.

"To see you. It's been a long time. I've missed you, dear. Don't you miss me?"

"How could I miss you?" You asked bitterly, "You ruined everything."

"Listen, you never let me explain myself, dear—"

"Don't call me that." You said sternly. "You're not my boyfriend anymore. You don't get to call me anything other than my name. Don't even call me that. Don't talk to me. Why are you here?"

"I already said—"

"How are you here, then?!" You raised your voice. You clenched your fists at your sides. "I thought you... died." Your eyes burned but you wouldn't let this man be the cause of another tear falling.

Because he'd already caused enough.

"Questions, dear." He said, "Can you ring me up?"

"No. I'm not supposed to serve you."

"You know you don't have to listen to what people say to you, right? You wouldn't listen to me that day, I doubted you'd listen to anyone now.

"So why do you? You listen to Keiji when he yells at you and tells you you're in the wrong. You listen to Shinnie tell you not to serve me. You listened to Nao and refused to believe what Shinnie had said to you yesterday about his shift, though, he was lying."

You took a step back, "What?" You were scared now. How did he know so much? "What are you talking about?!" You shouted.

Hiyori shrugged, "Whatever you think I'm talking about." He smiled, "So, can you ring me up?"
