You started work at three. You woke up at noon and left ten minutes later.
You drove around for three hours trying to process everything that had happened with Keiji last night. You couldn't focus on any one thing. A single thought always brought you back to It's over.
There was nothing left in your relationship, and you didn't think you wanted anything more.
Scratch that, you didn't want anything more. You imagined that your boyfriend, or rather... ex-boyfriend, wouldn't want to continue the conversation, even though he'd said he did.
You didn't want to either.
You didn't cry last night, and you didn't this morning either. It would be dangerous for you to cry while driving, so you refused to.
However, when you got to work, and you sat down on your bar stool and Shin asked you, "How was your dinner date last night?"
You did.
You were hesitant to speak up because he hadn't noticed the tears fall down your face, but if you opened your mouth you'd wail.
You really did love Keiji. And you wondered if you were doing the right thing, or if you just fucked up the only good thing you had going in your life.
"...Y/N?" Shin tilted his head to get a better look at you, because you wouldn't look at him. He saw a tear fall, and another, and another. "Oh... I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have asked..."
You sniffled, wiping your tears away with the back of your hands. "It's—" You choked on your words, letting out a sob. You were embarrassed now. You stood up and went into the break room. You knew it was unprofessional but no one was there and you thought it would be more unprofessional to be crying in front of customers.
"W-Wait!" Shin quickly closed the counters and followed after you. You sat on the sofa in the break room and began sobbing harder. He sat next to you and he held his arms slightly out like he wanted to comfort you but he didn't know how to or if you'd be accepting of his comfort.
"I-I'm sorry..." He said, "I obviously... don't know what happened last night, but uhm... Is there anyway I can help?"
You stopped wailing, tears still streaming down your face like waterfalls, and you looked at him.
You were grateful for Shin. He was the friend you never got to have when you needed it before.
And you needed it now.
"Shin," You cried, leaning into him and wrapping your arms tightly around him. Shin was shocked. He wasn't expecting that. You'd always been careful not to even brush against him, and now you were hugging him. He hesitantly wrapped his arms around you, holding you close and letting you cry into his shoulder. You cried harder in his arms.
You didn't understand why you felt so comfortable crying in front of him. You'd known him a little over a month, and you were sobbing. You'd known Keiji for three years and you never felt comfortable crying in front of him. You hadn't been afraid of showing emotion around him, but you just... you didn't think you'd feel okay doing so.
Shin didn't know how else to comfort you. Saying sorry wouldn't do anything. His hand lost itself in your hair, scratching your head to help calm you down.

"Hello?!" A customer shouted from the front. Your crying had died down, but you hadn't left Shin's embrace yet, his fingers still drawing circles on the back of your head.
