Uso Penitentiary-Formerly Eagle Mountain Correctional Facility

Eagle Mountain, California

"Are you sure this is going to work?" Assistant Warden Pearce asked his superior, nervously.

"Of course, I think it will be a great program. Not only that, I think the number of fights and stabbings will decrease significantly!" Warden Heyman stated.

"B-but having men and women incarcerated together? It's never been done in the history of corrections, not just here but all over the world!" Pearce said.

"Exactly! If we start it here, then we set a precedent. If it as successful as I think it'll be, then other correctional facilities will also institute it. Who knows, if it reduces the number of officer and inmate altercations, that it also save a lot of money too on workman's compensation for injuries and inmate lawsuits!" Heyman argued.

"I...I don't know it just seems a little risky that's all." Pearce said, apprehensively.

"I'm confident it will work out fine." Heyman said.

"Ok say for argument's sake, it does calm the guys down. What if it calms them down too much, and some of these women end up pregnant? We are gonna have to not only open up a unit for pregnant inmates but we're going to have a mother and baby cell block!" Pearce asked, heavily concerned.

"As you know Pearce, I think of everything. It just so happens that I hired a physician and a nurse practitioner for the healthcare department. Dr. Zaheerah Shareef and Nurse Malinda Duncan. They will oversee the health needs of both male and female inmates. Dr. Shareef came up with the brilliant idea to have all the female inmates to receive Depo vera birth control injections monthly on a mandatory basis. In addition, all inmates, both male and female will receive regular examinations and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases." Heyman announced.

"Ok...well....as the warden, you know best. I just hope that this doesn't blow up in our faces." Pearce sighed.

At that moment, Heyman's secretary Brandi Reed, stepped into the office, interrupting the two men.....

"Yes Brandi, what is it?" Heyman asked, acknowledging his secretary's presence...

"I'm sorry to disturb, Warden Heyman, but you have a call in the conference room." She said.

"Ok I'll be right there." He announced.

After she left, Heyman acknowledged of the apprehension and worry on Pearce's face....

"Trust me....what could possibly go wrong?" Heyman smiled confidently as he stepped out of the office.

"A whole helluva lot, I'm afraid." Pearce sighed, shaking his head.

Meanwhile on D-Housing Unit.....
Corrections officers John Cena and Idris Elba, were just coming on duty and getting report from the day shift officer Bobby Lashley and in the officer control room going over the plan of how they were going to run the shift.....

"Ok so after count, when do you want to let them back out into the dayroom?" Officer Elba asked.

"Well, once the compound count has cleared and day shift has left, we could let them out and let them watch television until dinner time." Cena stated.

"Hey guys, one more thing before I leave, keep a close watch on Anoa'i and the Fatu twins. I think they're on some bullshit." Officer Lashley stated.

"Why? What makes you think so?" Elba asked.

"Because earlier, I saw Anoa'i and the twins have the new little guy Thomas in the corner and they were trying to shake him down for commissary. Then after lunch when they were supposed to go to yard, Thomas asked me if he could be signed into protective custody. So just keep an eye on those assholes, especially Anoa'i's snake ass. Well, have a safe shift. I'll be on vacation for the next two weeks." He stated.

"Ok will do. Enjoy your time off." Cena replied.

After Lashley left, Elba and Cena were watching the dayroom through the security cameras....

"So what's the story with Anoa'i?" Elba asked.

"He's extremely dangerous. I mean EXTREMELY dangerous. He's one of the OGs of the Sons of Samoa faction of the Crip gang. The call him "The Tribal Chief". He's a lifer, got 3 life sentences plus 500 years." Cena said.

Elba let out a low whistle as he looked at the book of mugshots and came upon picture of Joe Anoa'i. As he looked at his picture, a chill ran down his spine. This man appeared remorseless and looked as if he would slice your throat without blinking an eye. His eyes looked as if one would stare into a bottomless pit.

"So what did he do to get in here?" Elba asked.

"What didn't he do?" Cena scoffed. "The reason he got so much time is because if ever got out, the murder rates in California, Florida and New York would go up 35%.

"Wow." Elba said.

"Yeah, when he requires movement, he has to be videotaped, shackled, have a muzzle and escorted by the cell extraction team. He's just that dangerous. His file is labeled that he assaults staff and inmates." Cena said.

"Well this is my first day on this particular housing unit, so I hope we have a good shift." Elba said.

"We will."  Cena said confidently, smiling.
