Okay...

So when I said it would probably be around 6 chapters I was mistaken!

It was a big mistake too.

It will probably end up being closer to 8. Maybe even 9.

 I'm sorry!

Please go easy on me with the threats!

Furina's POV

I took a deep breath before opening the door of Neuvillette's office.

 "Neu-"

"I don't remember saying you could enter." He cut me off without ever looking up from his work.

 "I didn't ask." I retorted.

Something was clearly wrong, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"Did you come here to argue, Furina?"

 "What?"

"Palais Mermonia as awfully empty. You even got Sedene out of here. That only happens when you come to pick a fight for something useless."

"Would talking about Duke Wriothesely still count as useless."

His body tensed for a split second and finally, he put down his pen and looked at me.

"I don't see a reason for you to be bringing him up."

 Our eyes met and-

 Oh, Celestia!

His eyes looked so bleak, so lifeless.

That pair of eyes that always shone full of elemental energy were now completely dull as if they would extinguish any moment.

"Neuvillette... What happened? Please talk to me."

 Please...

 Anything...

How I hoped to see even a single flicker in his eyes.

 Just a hint of emotion.

 But...

"Nothing happened, Furina. Now, if you're done with your nonsense, get out."

 "Neuvillette-"

 "I said get out."

 What should I do?!

I cannot leave him like this.

 But...

"Why is there no rain?" I muttered to myself.

If you're hurting so much, why is the sky so clear?

"There is no need to ruin everyone's mood just because I'm a bit tired."

 Tired.

 Tired?!

 You call this tired?!

 And...

 "You stopped the rain..."

 He actually...

"A minor matter." He commented offhandedly.

 No, it's not!

We both know damn well that it's not!

You told me yourself that it is incredibly taxing to hold back the rain brought upon Fontaine by your emotions.
