Sigewinne's POV
I closed my eyes, waiting for the water to hit.
Maybe it won't do anything.
Maybe it doesn't affect melusines.
Maybe Dad will feel that something is wrong.
Maybe he'll just pass by to say hello.
"Dad! Don't you dare butt into our meeting this time! It's a secret!"
Those words spoken this morning rang through my mind.
Hahaha...
How many wrong decisions have we made today?
Telling Dad not to come over.
Ignoring a bad feeling we all got.
...
Suddenly, I felt myself getting pulled into an embrace.
"Wha-"
"Just one. Archons, please let me protect at least one of them."
That voice!
Claude that idiot!
Protect yourself you stupid brat!
Just before I assumed the water would hit, there was a flash of bright green, followed by a loud bang.
The waters didn't come.
Dad?!
Did he-
"Cough!"
Something warm dripped pat the side of my face and onto the floor below.
Blood, I noted.
With some difficulty, I turned my body within Claude's hold, now looking up at him.
!!!
It was obvious that he had coughed up a mouthful of blood just now even if he had tried to wipe it away.
"You-"
"Sorry... That's all I have..."
And with those words, he passed out, falling down to the side.
This revealed another thing to my eyes.
The reason the waters did not descend further.
A slowly breaking shield made of anemo energy was blocking it.
Wait-
What-
Anemo?
That's not Dad's-
Damn it!
It finally clicked.
This reckless idiot has a vision!
He tried to block the water but it became too much of a burden and he passed out!
The shield was still somewhat whole above us, but it was breaking much faster towards the edges.
My eyes went wide as I watched the water drip down from between the cracks.
Be careful, I wanted to shout.
But it was too late.
The water had already reached them.
The people I have known for centuries. People I consider my siblings.
