Percy let his hand fall. The Alliance, once millions strong, threw itself onto the Camp of the Titan Lord. Kronos, Setne, and Hrym stood by the barracks, weapons in hand, flanked by their forces.
Percy raised Riptide, the godly metal hissing in the sulfurous atmosphere. 'For the fallen!'
With that, he rushed into the fray, Jason and Nico at his back, slicing through legions of monsters like they were paper.
'Duck!' Jason said.
A golden blade flew through the air, cutting down a Cyclops who had his club poised to strike Percy. He wrenched out the gladius and dual-wielded the two swords, making a path back to Jason.
Tendrils of electricity turned hordes of creatures to dust as Thalia became airborne upon Frank, her eyes crackling blue, sparks racing up and down her arms.
'Get to Kronos, now!'
Percy gave the gladius back to Jason and as one with Nico, they marched towards Kronos. The Titan raised his hand.
'You will lose, Jackson. You, for all your heroics, can not beat me. '
'We'll see about that, Grandpa.'
As a well-oiled machine, the trio attacked Kronos in unison, putting him on the back foot immediately. Blows and parries were exchanged, but no one could get a hit in. The length of the scythe made it harder to use in the close range the demigods were fighting in, but its properties made them wary enough not to launch a full assault.
Jason pulled off and floated into the air, letting loose millions of volts of electricity at Kronos, forcing him to his feet. Percy summoned forth massive chains of ice and water and held Kronos in place as Nico went in for a heavy blow.
The Titan caught the blade and swatted Nico aside, sending him flying backward. Percy pushed forward with RIpdite, doing his best to keep Kronos on the back foot as Jason sent arcs of lighting towards him, supercharging Riptide.
Nico rejoined the fight, looking only slightly worse. His Stygian Iron blade looked darker than ever; it seemed as dark as the deepest pits of Tartarus, something Percy did not want to be reminded of.
Nico sank the blade hilt deep into the ground and waves of the undead surged forward. Kronos threw them all aside, their movements slowing down immensely.
The fight continued for hours and only then was a mistake made. the three demigods swung their blades in unison and Kronos expertly caught them in the crook of the scythe. With a snap and a blinding flash of light and energy, the three blades broke, sending their owners flying back.
Percy held his hand up to his nose. Blood. With racking coughs, he got up to see Kronos with his scythe poised over Jason's heart.
Kronos cackled. 'Finally! The first blood of the new Golden Age.'
As Kronos brought down the blade, Jason summoned what remained of his power and sent it all into a final strike of electricity, holding the blade in position.
Percy wasn't going to stand by and watch as his friend died. He rose to his feet and jumped, bringing down two blades of jagged ice onto Kronos' back in an X. Kronos snarled and turned backward, pushing Percy back immediately.
Percy held his own, but without Riptide, there was nothing much that could be done. With a final strike to a crumbling defense, Kronos sent Percy crashing into the ground.
Percy met Kronos' strike with his shield, pushing himself off the ground with significant effort. They stood there, locked in position, each unable to give the other an inch.
In one swift move, Kronos kicked Percy's feet out from underneath him and shattered the shield. Out of the corner of his eye, Percy saw Nico get up and threw the younger demigod a blade of ice.
Just as Nico and Percy brought their blades onto Kronos, the Titan of Time caught both blades in his hands. He broke both wrists with a sickening crunch and stabbed Nico in the stomach with his own blade. Yanking both swords out of Nico, he thrust them into Percy and kicked him back a hundred yards.
Percy could hear the anguished cries of his friends outside the barrier Kronos created. Annabeth screamed out his name, but her voice got dimmer and dimmer.
Jason spoke in his mind. 'Percy. We need to do it. We have to.'
'Percy please,' Nico said. 'We might destroy everything if we succeed, but at least the gods can put us out of it. If Kronos wins, then everything is over.'
Percy's mind moved sluggishly. There was no way... Percy felt a wave of rolling nausea just at the thought of it. But then again, they had to.
One final push.
One final attempt.
To end it all.
With agonizing pain he rose from the ground, seeing red, his back arched, and his senses enhanced. He felt every liquid in his surroundings. Every bit of sweat. All the saliva.
Every drop of blood.
The godly ichor in his veins shone at that moment, burning through his layers of mortality. He let out an unearthly bellow and spent every last bit of his energy.
He was known as the Avenger, the Destroyer; the son of the Earthshaker, Stormbringer. And he put all of his legendary might forth into a final attack.
Jason and Nico too got off the ground. Jason held out his hand and immediately the Titan Lord fell to his knees, his eyes wide. Nico held out his and wisps of silver came out of Kronos' mouth, accumulating in the shape of an evil demon that resembled Kronos in his true state.
Ichor, bones, and sheer power flew in all directions as Kronos' body disintegrated, returning to Tartarus.
With that, Percy Jackson saw black.
