The soft glow of Caroline's bedroom provided a backdrop for their conversation, the room imbued with an air of intimacy as they discussed the events of the previous night. Nathan leaned casually against the bedroom door, raptly attentive as Caroline recounted the details. While Caroline was explaining everything to him, while Aria told Damon at Chateux Salvatore.
As Caroline spoke, Nathan's inquisitive nature shone through. "So Sarah attacks Tyler and he pushed her away, and she tripped and she fell and hit her head," she informed him, her words filling the room. He listened intently, his expression thoughtful.
His follow-up question was both pertinent and shrewd. "Does Matt remember anything?" he inquired, his voice tinged with concern, his stance still relaxed against the doorframe.
Caroline's response was a gentle shake of her head, her expression carrying a hint of worry. "He thinks he blacked out," she explained further, "But I think, I think they were both compelled by Katherine. And that's why we covered for Tyler, said it was an accident."
Nathan absorbed this information with a measured nod, acknowledging the complexity of their predicament. His lips pursed in contemplation as he weighed the implications. "Tyler's a tool," he muttered in agreement, his disapproval evident.
Caroline concurred with a wry smile, her hazel eyes reflecting her understanding. "Obviously," she remarked, focusing on tidying her room. "Tyler getting blamed for Sarah's death just opens up questions that he can't answer. And do you really think it's a good idea for him to tell his mom he's a werewolf?"
Nathan smiles at her compassion, he really loved this girl "Of course not. Bad news all around."
"And that werewolf road leads straight to Vampire Boulevard. I thought I was thinking fast on my feet," Caroline says.
"Is your mom home?" He asks.
"No," She shakes her head, "She's leading the search party for Aimee Bradley. They haven't found her body yet."
"Damon took care of her body," Nathan says sighing dramatically, "Tragic, truly. Katherine has been a pain in my ass. I did all that work and finally got her out of our lives. It's been really stressful. You know what would help?"
Caroline glances at him, "What?"
Nathan shrugs, and purses his lips out, "A kiss."
Caroline responded to his jest with an eye roll and a hearty laugh, her affectionate exasperation evident. "Can you be serious for like a second?" she chided playfully.
Nathan didn't relent, his playful demeanour unwavering as he flopped onto her bed and hugged a pillow to his chest. "Did you see his eyes turn yellow?" he inquired, steering the conversation back to the pressing matter at hand.
Caroline, her own amusement giving way to a more serious tone, answered his question. "They were more gold with amber highlights," she noted, her gaze thoughtful. "Can he turn into a wolf now?"
Nathan clarified the situation, a note of caution in his voice. "Only on a full moon," he explained, acknowledging the enhanced strength Tyler had acquired. "I wonder how much Mason told him. Do you think he knows about vampires?"
"I don't think he knows much of anything," she mused, "He seemed really freaked out, and honestly, I felt kind of bad for him."
Nathan requested a favor with a trace of concern in his voice. "Well, can you do me a favor?" he asked, his brown eyes meeting hers earnestly, "Can you let Aria handle this one? I know Tyler's your friend and everything, but it would make me feel better if you just stayed away from Lockwolf."
Caroline acknowledged his request with a nod of understanding. "Fine. I'll give this one to Aria," she agreed, her willingness to cooperate apparent. But she couldn't resist making her own demand. "But the next time something cool happens, I want in," she declared.
