"come on buddy you're going to be late for your first day of school!" i said as my brother ran down the stairs
"let's go!" he said with his big smile
"you're so cute" i chuckled as i grabbed his hand and we walked out of our house
we recently just moved to seoul after we lived in the states for a half our life. our parents got divorced so we moved over here with our mom who decided to just leave me and my brother the second we got here and left us the house to ourselves. why? i don't know. she won't answer me at all.
well at least she wires me money, she cares right?
nah.
todays my first day of school at my new school and i'm lowkey at little nervous since i grew up in the states and didn't speak much korean. don't get me wrong i know korean to a certain level...
"ok buddy i'll pick you up right after school ok? behave" i said as i waved goodbye to him as his teacher walked him to his class
he's the only person i care about the most.
"you must be kang chaelin, i'm mrs.choi your teacher for this year it's so nice to finally meet you!" she said as she shook my hand
"you too" i smiled
"now class doesn't start until 10 minutes but i'm glad you showed up early so i can explain everything!" she started to explain all sorts of stuff which was kinda getting boring but i didn't want to sound rude so i kept listening
"ah there's the bell! mind introducing yourself to the class once they're all in here?" she asked me as people started walking in
"uhm sure ok" i nodded
"perfect!"
the class slowly started filling up and people staring at me, it was so awkward
FINALLY the bell rang which means class started
"ok class calm down! we have a new student here , can you please introduce yourself"
"uhm, hello my names kang chaelin" i said with a soft smile
"is that it?" she asked and i nodded "ok perfect, you can sit next tooo...." she looked around the room for a second when she pointed at someone "bangchan, bangchan please raise your hand"
a boy all the way in the back raised his hand at the teachers command "that's your seat" she said and i nodded as i walked over to where he was sitting
i sat down and gave him a soft smile and he just rolled his eyes at me right way to start off my first day of school
after 3 classes have passed, it was finally time for lunch, thank goodness i was so hungry.
i was walking to the cafeteria while using my phone when i bumped into someone and i fell go the floor
"sorry" i said embarrassed and got up from the floor
the tall brown headed guy turned around and looked at me "falling for me already?"
"oh, it's you" i said looking at bangchan
"watch where you're going next time" he scoffed and walked away
"don't mind him, he's like that to everyone, hi i'm felix" a freckled boy said putting his hand out for me to shake
"chaelin" i said shaking his hand
"i've never seen you before, you new?" he asked making a conversation between us
"uh yeah i just moved here" i said as the line to get food started moving
"mm, well welcome! i hope you enjoy it here!" he said giving me a smile
"felix" we heard from behind us and we looked to see who it was and it was no other than bangchan.
"i gotta go, it was nice knowing you chaelin" he said waving at me as he walked over to him
the first day of school was boring, i did meet someone though, her name is jennie and she's so kind, other than felix, she was the only one i met
i walked out of the school building and started walking to where my brothers school was to pick him up, it was a far walk since the school is near by but i got there a little early so i ended up going to a little cafe to get a drink
"hello welcome in!"
i gave them a small smile and looked at the menu
"can i get a matcha latte please" i said as i took out my wallet to pay
"sure thing, $4.58 please" they said and i nodded and paid
i waited for a couple of minutes for it to be ready when they finally called my name, once i grabbed the drink i headed back to my brothers school and picked him up
"hi buddy! how was school?" i asked as i held his hand and began to walk home
"it was good! i made some new friends and everyone is super nice!" he said jumping up and down which made me chuckle "what about you?"
"it was good too! i made friends as well" i nodded
"i made this one girl, her name is hannah! she's my best friend now" he said taking my drink out of my hand and drinking some
"it's matcha you don't like it" i said and he made a face after drinking some "told you" i said taking it back
"she invited me to her house for a play date tomorrow" he said "can i go?"
"i'll think about it ok?" i said and he pouted
"please, you can stay with us! she said she has a brother named chris, you can hang out with him!"
"i'll let you know tonight, let's just get home and eat food okay?" i said and he nodded
once we got home he ran up to his room and changed into his pjs, i started cooking some spaghetti to eat for dinner
"haemin come down food it ready!" i yelled from the kitchen and heard him running down
"finally i'm straving" he said sitting down on the table
i placed the food in front of him and severed myself some when the door bell rang "stay here" i said putting the plate down and headed over to the front door
i opened the door and saw a lady with a plate of something and a little girl next to her
"hello! i'm jessica! your next door neighbor! i wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood!" she said with a bright smile
"awh thank you! i'm chaelin! that's so sweet of you" i smiled
"we wanted to bring you a little gift" she said handing me a plate "they're just brownies but we hope you enjoy them!"
"we will thank you" i said holding the plate
"oh this is my little girl hannah! she wanted to come to say hi" she said looking down at her
"it's nice to meet you hannah" i said smiling at the little girl
"hannah!" haemin said running towards us
"haemin!" hannah said in return
"ahh so this is the boy you said you wanted to have a play date with?" she chuckled
"he mentioned that to me too" i chuckled
"yeah! can we still?" haemin said looking up at me with his puppy eyes
"fine, as long as it's okay with you" i said looking at her mom
"totally okay with me" she smiled
"haha ok i'll take him over to your house tomorrow at 5pm" i smiled
"perfect! it was so nice meeting you, i would've brought my son but he left somewhere when he got home, maybe next time, bye now!" she said waving and her and the little girl walked away
