Arlecchino sat at her desk, sifting through endless piles of paperwork. The sun was setting and most of the children should've been in bed and asleep...well...most children. She looked up from her papers when a small knock sound echoed from the giant, wooden door opposite her, "come in!", she shouted as she put her pen down and moved her papers to the corner of the desk.

The door finally opened and a tiny boy revealed himself. Arlecchino's face softened at the sight, "Freminet? Why are you still awake?", she asked gently as she beckoned him closer. Freminet shivered as he stepped forward, it was always cold in father's office, which is why no child goes in there, even after a nightmare plagued them or their life was on the line.

He sat down on Arlecchino's knee, holding a book in his hands, Arlecchino looked at the book, "what's this Freminet?", she whispered as she pointed at the big book in his hands. Freminet lifted it up towards the light, "can you...read me a story?", he whispered as he moved his face away from Arlecchino's gaze. Father chuckled to herself as she took the book from his hands, "what story do you have in mind Freminet?", she asked as she opened the book to the index page.

Freminet smiled, "the story with Pers in it!", he exclaimed as he pointed towards the page number. Arlecchino smiled as she flipped through the endless amount of pages and stopped at the little penguin story, "get comfortable Freminet", she whispered before Freminet started shuffling around on her lap. Leaning his head against her chest and closing his eyes, "are you comfortable Freminet?", Arlecchino asked as she gently stroked the young boy's hair with the back of her hand. Freminet looked up at her with a small smile and a nod, Arlecchino returned the smile before clearing her throat and beginning the story...

Freminet was sound asleep when Arlecchino finally finished the story. She sighed with a smile before standing up from her chair with Freminet in her arms like a small baby, she carried the book underneath her arm and walked towards the wooden door and opened it before shutting off her office lights. She'll deal with the paperwork tomorrow, Freminet's her first and only priority right now she reminded herself before shutting the door behind her and walking down the hallway.

She tip-toed past various rooms of asleep children and straight to her three best children: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet's bedroom. She opened the door with a small creak and let herself into the room, luckily, Freminet's bed was neatly made and was positioned close to the door. She carefully laid the small boy down in the bed, he shivered for a few minutes before getting comfortable and turning around and to his side, Arlecchino pushed a small penguin plush in his direction and he took it immediately with a sleepy smile.

Arlecchino sat on his bed and watched over her son for a few minutes before ruffling his hair one last time and placing the storybook underneath his bed, in it's rightful place. She stood up and walked over to their bedroom door and our her hand on the doorknob, "goodnight my sweet children", she whispered before walking out of the room and shutting the door behind her. Now all she needs Todo is go to sleep herself... it's getting late and Lyney and Lynette's little magic show is happening tomorrow morning
