It was calm, Lynette was stroking another one of her kitty friends and Lyney was practicing his card tricks for his next magic show. Lynette looked up at the clock, "shouldn't Freminet be back already? It's getting late...", she asked as she turned her attention to her twin. Lyney smiled at her before making his cards disappear, "he'll be back soon, give him time", he reassured his sister before looking up at the clock too.
Lynette relaxed her posture on the small chair before letting the small car jump off her lap and scamper towards another room in the hotel. She rolled her eyes as she slumped into the chair, "I'm getting a little worried, that's all", she mumbled as she played with the navy-blue ribbon tied around her neck. Lyney nodded as he looked down at a small penguin card and felt a small ping of panic, "he'll be just fine", he mumbled as he placed the card back into the small pile on the side of the chair.
Suddenly, a small knock echoes throughout the room. Both twins stood up quickly and dashed towards the door as fast as they could and opened it up. They were both met with the face of their little brother, holding his penguin companion in one hand and the hand of another person in the other. Lyney looked at the stranger: he had bright-blonde hair, sky-blue eyes, he wasn't wearing Fontainian clothing...who *was* he? Quickly, Lynette broke the silence, "Freminet, where were you?" she asked in a concerned tone as her twin kneeled down on one knee to meet his gaze.
"I...I found someone", Freminet started as he gripped the other boy's hand a little harder. Lynette gave him a look that said 'continue', Freminet took a deep breath, "h-he was lost, h-he's not from here...can we help him?", Freminet whispered quietly and hung his head down low. Like he was asking some sort of embarrassing or impossible to accomplish question, Lyney gently smiled and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, "of course we can, what's his name?", he asked as he directed his gaze over to the other boy.
Freminet looked at the boy beside him before looking back at his brother, "he told me his name is Mika...Mika Sc...Sch...", Freminet struggled to pronounce his last name, "M-Mika Schmitt", the other boy suddenly interrupted the struggling Freminet. Freminet smiled, "yeah! That's it!", he exclaimed with a big smile. Lyney looked over to his sister, who was standing behind him with her arms crossed and staring into seemingly nothing before looking back at the two boys with a warm expression of happiness.
"What about I take you and your friend to the local police station, Mika, your family must be worried sick", Lyney suggested as he looked for approval in the two boy's faces. Freminet looked over at his little friend and nodded over to him, an action which the boy returned, Freminet turned to face his brother with a smile, "he said yes, let's go Lyney!", he said as he took Lyney's hand. Lyney chuckled, "Lynette, I'll be taking them to the police station. No funny business alright?", Lynette rolled her eyes and took a step inside the house, "just be back soon", she mumbled as she shut the door.
Lyney sighed as he stood up and took his brother's hand. Leading the three of them down to the police station, "so Mika...what got you in this situation anyway?", he asked as he looked over at the clearly nervous stranger. Mika looked up at Lyney and looked back down at the floor, "I just got lost from my mommy and daddy... that's all", he whispered, seemingly ashamed of the fact he had to drag two strangers to the police station to help him. Lyney smiled, "I understand, it's quite easy to get lost in Fontaine, isn't it Freminet?", he said as he looked down at his younger brother, who looked over at Mika with a comforting smile, "yeah, even I get lost here, and I live here", he said with a laugh.
Mika giggled a little at the comment before pointing at Lyney with his free hand, "are you a magician sir?", he asked, Lyney looked back at him, "of course I am, what gave it away?" he jokingly asked. Mika giggled, "your hat! It's pretty!!", he exclaimed as his eyes shone in the moonlight. Lyney chuckled, "why, thank you Mika", he said as he tipped his hat towards him in a light-hearted manner, which seemed to cheer up the nervous boy even more.
Soon enough, they arrived at the police station, there were crowds bustling around the front entrance and they all seemed to stare at the trio as they walked inside. Once inside, Lyney got the attention of one of the gaurds, who looked quite tired, "excuse me sir, my brother has found a lost tourist", he said as he pointed over to the two boys, now sitting down and playing with some sort of bead toy you'd find in doctors offices. The gaurd followed Lyney's hand towards the boy and his expression suddenly changed to that of relief, he turned around and said into his radio, "the missing tourist has been found, bring his family in", he said with a smile as he shook Lyney's hand. "We've been looking for him all evening, thank archons you've found him", he said with a smile on his face.
Lyney awkwardly smiled, "it was my brother that found him...", he mumbled as he looked over at the two boys. Both smiling and playing together symotaniously with the small toy, Lyney couldn't help but feel his heart grow warmer watching them together, seeing Freminet happy made him happy. Slowly, he walked over towards the two boys and sat down next to them, "Mika, your family is going to be here soon", he said as he placed a hand on Mika's shoulder, Mika turned to him and nodded with a grateful smile, "t-thank you, for everything sir", he said as he turned to Freminet, "t-thank you too Fremi", he whispered, to which Freminet smiled in response.
After a few minutes, a woman and small boy, around the age of 10 burst in through the door of the police station in a panic, scanning the room quickly before locating someone. The woman ran towards Mika and embraced him tightly, "oh my Mika...thank archons you're safe", she said as she wiped away some tears which were forming in her eyes. She looked over at the other boy in anger, "I asked you to watch him Huffman", she said sternly as the young boy looked down at the floor in shame.
The woman sighed before turning to Lyney, "I'm so sorry for the trouble sir", she said with a bow. Lyney smiled, "no need to apologise, it's alright", he said as the woman stopped her now, "are you sure? I must compensate you, I insist", she said as she pulled out her purse. Lyney looked alarmed, "no ma'am, it's my duty as a Fontaine citizen to help those who need help", he said as he shook his head in a panic. The woman sighed, "sorry... I've just been so worried", Lyney nodded, "don't worry ma'am, I understand that feeling well", he said with a smile.
The woman looked confused, "you seem a bit young for children", Lyney smiled even more before directing her attention to Freminet, "I have a younger brother, do I understand the worry fat too well", he chuckled. The woman smiled as she took both her son's hands, "thank you so much for bringing my son here...what do you say Mika?", she asked as she looked down at the small boy, squeezing her hand tightly. Mika looked up at Lyney and Freminet with a small smile, "thank you both!", he said as Lyney and Freminet smiled back at him. "You're very welcome Mika", Lyney replied as Freminet ran up to hug his new friend, "will I see you again Mika?", he asked as he hugged him.
Mika nodded as he also embraced his new friend, "we will see each other, don't worry Fremi!", he said with a smile. They stayed like that for a while until Lyney looked up at the clock and back at his brother, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but Lynette will be expecting us back now Fremi", Lyney said as he peeled his brother away from his friend. Freminet looked up at his brother with a grumpy look, "but whyyyy?", he complained, Lyney ruffled his brother's hair, "because it's getting extremely late now", he explained.
Freminet reluctantly nodded and took his brother's hand, Lyney looked at the woman again, "I hope you have a good rest of your trip in Fontaine ma'am", he said with a smile. The woman giggled, "thank you so much sir, have a wonderful night", she said as she and Lyney walked towards the door and Lyney opened it for the woman. The woman thanked him and after one last wave, both families walked off their separate ways
