Words Weigh

Words can hurt, beyond repair,
Echoing loud, lingering in the air,
Jokes and quips, made with careless ease,
Bringing only pain and unease.

We must halt this harsh commentary,
Fueled by anger or cruelty,
For these barbs penetrate deeply,
Leaving wounds that fester and hurt deeply.

Jokes about weight, facial features, and scars,
Locking up our insecurities behind bars,
These comments cut to the core,
Desperate to be seen as more.

Grades and appearance are no different,
Attacked with words, unrelenting,
Leaving behind a trail of devastation,
And a deep-seated sense of frustration.

It's easy to think that it's just jokes,
But our words can cause heavy strokes,
So let's be kind and careful with what we say,
And truly understand the impact on display.

So, please, let's stop this mannerless game,
And speak with empathy, not with shame,
For our words carry weight beyond measure,
And we must use them with utmost treasure.
