Chapter 9
+↔↔↔↔↔↔+
The next day, both boys had gone their ways to hang out with their respective fathers for the day. Marty was with Geroge rehearsing his plan to get him and his mother together on the night of the dance while Jamie was out with Aiden shopping for the dance.
"I still don't understand. How am I supposed to go to the dance with her, if she's already going to the dance with you?" George said. He walked out of his house with a laundry basket in his hand while Marty followed behind him.
"Because, George, she wants to go with you. She doesn't know it yet. Thats why we got to show her that you George McFly, are a fighter. You're somebody who's gonna stand up for yourself, someone who's gonna protect her," Marty said, trying to instill confidence in his father.
"Yeah, but I never picked a fight before in my entire life," George said honestly, setting down his basket.
"Look, you're not gonna be picking a fight dad...dad, dad, daddy-o" Marty quickly corrected himself. Luckily, Jamie wasn't here otherwise he would've laughed at him on the spot. "You're coming to a rescue right?"
"Okay, let's go over the plan again. 8:55, where are you gonna be?" Marty asked
"I'm gonna be at the dance," George responded as he began to hang up clothes on the clothesline.
"Right, and where am I gonna be?" Marty asked, making sure George had everything memorized.
"You're gonna be in the car with her," George answered.
"Right, okay, so right around 9:00 she's gonna get very angry with me," Marty explained the next part of the plan to him
"Why is she gonna get angry with you?" George asked curiously.
"Well, because George, nice girls get angry when guys take advantage of them," Marty continued, embarrassed by this part of the plan and knowing how uncomfortable this might get later.
"Oh, you mean you're gonna touch her on her..." George said, a little nervous about what Marty's intentions were.
"No, no, George, look...It's just an act, right?" Marty tried to assure him.
"Okay, so 9:00 you're strolling through the parking lot, you see us, uh, struggling in the car, you walk up, you open the door and you say," Marty paused for George to finish but was met with silence. He cleared his throat "Your line, George,"
"Oh uh... Hey you, get your damn hands off her," George said, pointing like he had rehearsed but weak with delivery of the line. "Do you really think I oughta swear?"
Yes, definitely, god-damn it George swear. Okay, so now, you come up, you punch me in the stomach, I'm out for the count, right? And you and Loraine live happily ever after," Marty finished.
"Oh, you make it sound so easy, I just wish I wasn't so scared,"
"George, there's nothing to be scared of. All it takes is a little self-confidence. You know, if you put your mind to it, you could accomplish anything," Marty said, putting his hand on his shoulder.
"Besides, Jamie will be watching over you to make sure nothing gets in the way, and nobody gets hurt, just count on him mostly," Marty said getting a little redder than usual mentioning his name more.
"God, how long am I gonna be feeling like this?"
"Oh, okay, sounds great," George said, feeling relieved.
