Regulus Black/Marauders Era Oneshots

Tattoos

Sirius tells Regulus about a muggle tattoo shop, and well, Regulus goes. He ends up covered in tattoos as fifth year start, and he tries keeping them a secret.

It wasn't uncommon for students at Hogwarts to have tattoos. It was mostly students in Gryffindor. They often talked about ideas and different shops, in the Great Hall. Most Slytherins only talked about one, one which Regulus never wanted.

It was the summer before Regulus' fifth year. Sirius had shown him some of his fresh tattoos, and he told Regulus about the shop he went to. He talked about how he wasn't treated nicely by them, and that it was a muggle tattoo shop. He talked about how the pain wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. Sirius didn't have that many tattoos.

Sirius ended up convincing their mother to let him go to the Potter's for a week. How he did that, Regulus didn't know. Regulus did know one thing though. It was that he wanted to get some tattoos. Since Sirius had told him about the shop, he had been coming up with ideas. He had charmed one of his designs onto his thigh, and he liked it. He liked a design with a gentle snake wrapping around his thigh working it's way up his hip. He also liked a rose design that he thought represented his family pretty well, a few roses. That one would be on the side of his leg, almost the back. He liked the idea of a dagger, but he didn't have a good design for it.

The first day Sirius left for the Potter's, Regulus wrote a paper, faking Walburga's consent for him to get the tattoo. He tucked it in his pocket, and he told Mother he would be going to Diagon Alley. He quickly made his way to the shop. He talked with a very nice man, and he handed over the faked paper. He lied about his age as well. He relaxed slightly when he was approved. He said that he had plenty of time to fit Regulus in today, and they made their way to one of the rooms.

Regulus explained his two ideas. He explained his family wasn't the best, but on the outside, they looked fine. His artist told him that he could sketch up both real quick then they can go from there. That's exactly what happened. Regulus waited as the artist took a couple minutes drawing a quick sketch. Regulus definitely liked the snake more, but he explained that he wanted it to look soft, harmless. He didn't want it to look dangerous, he didn't want it to look like it was related to a certain tattoo going around Slytherin.

His artist revised the sketch, making it more final. The lines were darker and more sure. The eyes were changed to circles instead of slits. The head was more rounded. They also decided on green for the color. He thought it fit.

The artist traced it. Regulus removed his pants, and it was being transferred onto his skin. He felt his heart jump seeing this harmless thing around his thigh. He smiled, it had the opposite meaning the forearm tattoo meant.

Regulus clenched his jaw from the pain as they started. He relaxed soon enough. His artist made conversation with him as he ran the tattoo gun along his thigh. Regulus flexed his foot, and he gripped the couch as the tattoo came farther up his thigh. He relaxed more the longer it went on. Eventually, the artist told him all they needed to was add some highlights, and they would be finished. Regulus clenched his jaw slightly as the artist went over some spots.

Soon enough, he was being led to a full length mirror. Regulus had some blood running down his leg, but he couldn't be more happy with it. He let himself smile as he twisted around to see it at different angles. "I love it," Regulus whispered to his artist. It looked safe.

"I'm glad to hear that," his artist replied, "Let me get you wrapped up then you can pay up front." Regulus felt relieved that he had borrowed some muggle money from Sirius. He almost completely forgot about the different currencies.

Regulus was told about all the stages of healing, and he was given muggle creams to rub on it. He would do as his artist said. He also booked another appointment, two weeks from now. His artist told him he'd try and think of some cool ideas to suggest next time, and Regulus told him he'd be trying to come up with a design as well.
