Today was going great. After lunch, we had quiet time, where everyone's cabins had to be silent. A few girls whispered, but Peyton seemed fine with it. Others napped, while I read. The novels Steam had purchased for me where exhilarating, and I turned every page with earnest. I was done with the first one just as quiet time ended. Quiet time was an hour, though it's not like the book was short. Elementals are just kind of... well... capable of more things than regular human beings. Examples: Finishing a 379 page book in an hour, getting a bulls-eye on the first try before ever using a bow, receiving all A's on a subject we never paid attention to. To be fair, that math class was incredibly... average. Still. That was just Misty and I, other Elementals were skilled enough to create a school building that changes position with the click of a button on a helper.
After quiet time came sharing time. What a drastic change. Sharing time was a time when everyone was assigned a group and a counselor and they... er... shared. Just normal conversation stuff. I was assigned group number seven with a boy counselor named Lock.
"{Josie will type dirt's backstory}" Dirt shared sadly. We were in a circle near the middle of camp. A few girls patted her back as tears poured down her face.
"That's... deep." One girl said, breaking the awkward silence.
"So your parents just... left you?" Another asked. I sensed it was a rhetorical question, but Dirt nodded anyways. I felt I had seen Dirt under a layer of prejudice, and began feeling a bit more respect towards her.
"I'm so sorry!" The girl up next comforted. "Okay my turn-"
A few hours later, after sharing time had ended and we had already did our two afternoon activities and dinner, we sat gathered for skits in the outside gym. The counselors were doing them, and believe me, they were hilarious. It really was fun, and I absolutely loved it. Right after was after-dinner Canteen or night Canteen, and a third mark was scratched under Skylar Blue. When we got back to the cabin, we took five minute showers, ugh, and then went to bed. Lights out was ten thirty, and just when we thought that the silence now would last until seven the next morning, Peyton spoke up.
"So, I bet you guys really want to know what happened last year, right?"
