நீயும் நானும் சேர்ந்தே செல்லும் நேரமே
நீலம் கூட வானில் இல்லை
எங்கும் வெள்ளை மேகமே!
(The time when we travel together,
Even the sky is not blue.
It's white, it's white clouds everywhere!)

As the sun dipped itself under the horizon, casting a warm amber glow across the city, Krishna stepped out of his room. He was wearing a grey coloured T-shirt and dark blue jeans, his shoulder carrying a backpack that was loaded with dresses for the wedding celebrations. Excitement bubbled within him to travel together with his Paayal!

As he reached the hall with an infectious enthusiasm, he announced to his mom with an energetic voice, "Maa, I am moving."

His mom gently replied, "Okay Kanna. Take care, and call us after reaching there."

"Okay Maa, And..." He paused, a hesitance visible in his face.

"What happened?" His mom looked at him puzzled.

"I need 300 rupees, ma." He confessed and made an innocent face, his voice carrying a hesitance.

His mom furrowed her eyebrows, inquiring, "I already gave you 500 rupees to buy gifts for the couple and for your expenses right?! Then why do you want more money? The food too will be served in Ajay's home itself. Then what is the need for extra money?"

He lacked words. He wanted to take care of Paayal's expenses too. But he didn't know how to articulate it to his mom. He lied reluctantly, "Maa, That is.... Ajay's sister is like my sister too. So, I want to give an expensive gift to her."

"Hmm, What are you going to buy?" His mom inquired further. Though his parents were friendly and had affluence, they never encouraged Krishna to spend lavishly. They always inquire him thoroughly, and sought clarity on his spendings before handing money to him.

Krishna replied, "I don't know, Maa, I will go to the gift shop and select it. Please Maa, You know, right? Your sweet son will not use money for the wrong cause. Please give me, Maa." He made an innocent face as if he was the sweetest, innocent boy on this earth. His mom melted in his sweet talks and innocent face, and smiled. "Okay, Wait... "

Krishna nodded his head excitedly with a smile.

His mom retrieved the money from a cupboard and passed it to him.

"Thank you Maa. You are the sweetest mom," He grinned, showing all his gleaming white teeth.

"You butter up nicely!" His mom playfully remarked.

He giggled, "No. You misunderstood, Paaru. I told the truth."

His mom faked a frown, tapping his shoulder playfully. "Calling me by name!"

He laughed, running out the home while adding in a hurry, "You beat me later. I am getting late. It's already 6. I am moving. Bye ma.'

"Take care, kanna," She shouted from behind.

"Yes, Maa." He shouted back and flew in his cycle towards Paayal's home.

He reached Paayal's home in a mere 10 minutes. Paayal already got ready with a mustard yellow kurti, beige pants and beige chiffon dupatta, her hair cascading freely with a center clip as always. She was glowing like the morning sun. Not just because of her beauty, but also because of the excitement to travel together with Krishna. Her glow was defeating the fluorescent lights of her home. Like a glowing flower, She was sitting on the sofa, her eyes being fixed on the door, waiting for Krishna's arrival.

As soon as Krishna entered their home, Paayal stood up, and welcomed, "Hi, Come in, Krishna."

He came in, his eyes admiring his Paayal's angelic face which was glowing more than ever before.
