நான் போகிறேன் மேலே மேலே
பூலோகமே காலின் கீழே
விண்மீன்களின் கூட்டம் என் மேலே!
(I am flying above and above,
The whole earth is under my feet.
The group of stars engulfed me!)The classroom had turned into a celebration hall. Krishna, Ajay, Saanvi and some other classmates arrived earlier and made their classroom board like a beautiful canvas with flower drawings and the center of the board read, 'Happy Birthday to our dearest friend Paayal'
The butterscotch flavoured square cake crowned with cherries was placed on the teacher's table. The cake also had 'Happy birthday to our dearest Paayal' on it.
Everything was ready for the celebration and Paayal was only missing. While Krishna was enhancing the name Paayal on the board with colourful chalks, losing himself in the beautiful name he knew, Saanvi was waiting near the entrance of their classroom for Paayal's arrival.
Ajay sensed Krishna's trance and approached him. "What, dude? You are romancing with Paayal's name itself like this. The way you look at her name feels as if the name itself would become pregnant..."
"What?!" He frowned, intervening, throwing his hand towards him.
Ajay laughed, running away. "Why are you frowning? Oh yes. People get angry when someone says the truth about them," He teased.
"You are going to die in my hands today," Krishna announced, chasing him. The whole class looked at them in awe for a moment and then carried on their work after passing a light chuckle at them, as everyone knew about those two crazy buddies.
Krishna caught Ajay, gripping one of his upper arms, and pinched his other upper arm. "Keep your mouth shut, if you want your teeth. Otherwise I will pull out all your teeth."
Ajay screamed yet teased, "Ouch! Paining ! Anyway, You said that you are going to study general medicine, right? But why are you talking like a dentist now? Pulling teeth, this and that??"
Krishna couldn't help but smile, leaving his hand. "You idiot! You always make me smile."
"That's the speciality of Ajay!" He shrugged his shoulders casually yet proudly.
Before Krishna could respond, Saanvi rushed inside the classroom while announcing, "Hey, Paayal is coming. Be ready with poppers."
"Come, Let's go." Krishna hastened Ajay and they rushed to the teacher's table again where they kept the party poppers and made themselves ready to unleash the celebratory bursts of joy.
As Paayal entered the classroom, the cacophony of poppers echoed through the room, causing Paayal to startle. The colourful shining papers cascaded down from the poppers, enveloping her in a festive shower. The room erupted in applause, and a chorus of wishes filled the air, "Happy birthday, Paayal."
But Krishna found himself in a silent reverie as he witnessed Paayal in a traditional attire for the first time. Her ethereal beauty held him mesmerized that he didn't even burst the party poppers.
Meanwhile Paayal was taken aback by the unexpected, surprise celebrations. Even her family hadn't surprised her like this. She was overwhelmed by the surprise and love, a surge of love and gratitude rising in her, filling her eyes with the tears of joy. She didn't know how to respond to this surprise and how to express her happiness, gratitude and love for her amicable classmates. She could only manage a heartfelt, "Thank you all."
Saanvi guided her towards the centerpiece - a beautifully adorned cake! Paayal's gaze met Krishna's, who was standing near the cake and smiled at him. But Krishna was in his own land of love and admiration, his gaze fixed on Paayal. He didn't respond to her smile. Paayal just looked at him puzzled and approached the cake.
