PROLOGUE

கண்ணில் ஒரு வலி இருந்தால்
கனவுகள் வருவதில்லை.
(When the eyes has pain, it doesn't dream)

Pune,
April 1995.

Her name was Paayal Deshmukh. She was a 16 years old teenage girl from Pune who was chirpy and loving in nature. Unfortunately, Fate decided to play a cruel game with her mother, who unfortunately died in jaundice when Paayal was just a 6-month-old bundle of cuteness. Born in a royal family, she had all the materialistic things around her, but she missed her mom. Though her father didn't marry again, he was engrossed in business that left him a little away from his family. The business and his responsibilities in business didn't leave him to spend time with his children.

Despite longing for her family's love, Paayal remained joyful and content. But life is always unpredictable. Everything may change within a blink of an eye. Paayal's life too took a drastic turn at a village festival when she was sexually assaulted by a stranger. Despite her efforts to defend herself, she couldn't save herself. In a war between the monster and an angel, the monster won and the angel was left with physical and mental scars on that day. She felt something died in her. She lost her cheerfulness and grew quieter, sadder, and occasionally grumpy. Her chirpy nature was completely gone. How can she be happy, When she is going through an indelible pain? She couldn't.

Her everyday became a nightmare and her nights became sleepless. Life seemed hopeless to her. She thought that she had been stained by an unremovable stain on her body and she hated herself for that. The incident deeply affected her, hindering her ability to recover from its tragedy and pain.

Usually, a caterpillar would break the cocoon and come out as a butterfly. But here, it was more like a butterfly which had many cheerful colours had been changed into a caterpillar and imprisoned in the cocoon. Will she ever come out of the trauma and emerge as a happy butterfly again?

Will she ever come out of the trauma and emerge as a happy butterfly again?
