EPILOGUE
Holden's letter, which he read as an eulogy at Sajana's Funeral:
Dear Sajana,
This letter is really confusing for me to write. I don't know how this happened to me, but somehow you have found your way into my affections.
Now please, don't think that's a bad thing. You are the first person to have ever done that. And wow, is it a strange feeling.
Your courage is so amazing it breaks my heart that more people don't love you. And your eyes are probably the most dazzling I've ever seen in my life.
Holden's reading is interrupted with a screech of a chair and someone rapidly exiting the church. The small congregation, all clad in a solemn black colour, turn their eyes to see Gilda Perkins closing the door behind her.
Gilda goes out and leans against the wall of the church. Silent tears streak down her cheeks, not for the first time since the day Sajana was killed. She feels as if she is solely responsible for it, and that she has robbed Sajana of her whole life that was out in front of her. Slowly, she sits down on the grass and puts her head in her hands.
The door next to her opens and Luxshana, the late Sajana's sister storms out sobbing loudly. She runs to an old and beat up car and gets into the driver's seat. Gilda sees her banging her head on the steering wheel, bawling in a terrible manner.
Its at that moment that Gilda recalls Sajana telling her she and her sister live alone.
She looks up to the sky and whispers:
"What have I done?"
