A few weeks later, I found Brina reclining on our cozy bed, her fingers gently tracing the contours of her stomach that was full of water. The soft glow of late afternoon sunlight streamed in through the curtains, casting a warm, comforting embrace over her.
The room was a symphony of scents and sensations – a blend of Brina's favorite lavender-scented candles and the faint aroma of the roses Megumi placed on her bedside table. Ezra was playing with his feet, his big eyes sparkling with curiosity.
He'd become quite adept at entertaining himself lately, often captivated by the simplest things – a stuffed animal, a sunbeam dancing across the room, or, in this case, his own little toes.
"Hey mama chunky man" Brina cooed at our precious baby boy, her voice infused with love and warmth. "Ya, that's Mama's chunky man" Ezra stated kicking his feet, his face illuminated by an infectious grin that mirrored his mother's affection.
Just then Brina felt a hand on her and she looked up to see Megumi, his eyes filled with a deep and abiding love. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Brina's lips. The taste of his affection lingered, a sweet and familiar blend that seemed to hold their entire history.
"Hey there, you two," Megumi murmured, his voice a soothing baritone. He lowered himself onto the bed beside Brina, one arm draping across her shoulder as he gazed down at their son, Ezra, who was now focused on his father's face with sheer fascination.
Megumi's hand instinctively found its way to Brina's rounded belly, squeezing it gently as if it were playdough. Brina popped his hand and went to the bathroom.
