Stagnant Waters

In the tides of love, I once believed,
Our hearts entwined, forever achieved.
But why, when I pull your way, do you let go?
Casting our bond aside, like drifting snow.

I open up, exposing my soul so true,
Yet you, callously, the essence I once knew,
Throw it out the window with a careless toss,
Leaving me to ponder, at such a loss.

Oh, how I long to hear you softly say,
That we could try, and find a brighter day.
But alas, you remain trapped in denial's snare,
Closing your eyes to our love's despair.

We've toiled for ages, working side by side,
Yet the flame has dimmed, no longer burning wide.
Our love, once vibrant, now feels so astray,
Stagnant waters, where affection decays.

Though our hearts may ache, and hope seems above,
It may be time to admit, we've lost love's sweet love.
