"I want everything to change and stay the same."

-Fall Out Boy//Coffee's For Closers

* * *

Lily woke up with a splitting headache.

She clenched her eyes tight, wincing in pain. She fully knew what had took place the night before, and there was nothing she would do to take it back.

Her feelings had been bottled up for so long - and everything that she had said to Tia was the complete and utter truth. The two were passive-aggressive people; they would silently be angry at each other, but would forget about it in a few days. However, forgetting is not what Lily did. She never forgot anything that Tia had done to make her feel the way she did.

For example, before Lily began dating Zac, Tia would give greatly detailed hints that Lily liked him when he was around, making it completely obvious and annoying. And another time when Lily was desperately trying to flirt with a guy she thought was cute, she butted into the conversation. Maybe she didn't mean to take his attention away, but that's what she did. She had this sort of magnetic pull; anyone and everyone would gravitate to her, and Lily had no idea why.

Well, perhaps she did. Tia was perfect: athletic, smart, funny, nice, gorgeous, and everything else that girls admired and boys found themselves staring at. All of those reasons were probably what Lily hated the most about Tia. She couldn't ever compare to her best friend and she loathed being seen as "Tia's sidekick" or "Tia's friend". She wanted to be known as Lily - and Lily only.

So when she began talking to Karen, the top of the chain, she realized that maybe it was her chance to become someone bigger, finally. Someone who stood out from the crowd. Someone like Tia.

Karen and her group actually enjoyed talking to her, not like how she felt when she was talking to Tia. She always felt far away, even though they were always together, it seemed like there was always this barrier they could never break. Lily knew that Tia cared about their friendship a lot; they had been there for each other through everything.

Of course they were still best friends; Tia understood Lily in ways that no one else could. She had been there for her through thick and thin. But even two of the closest people have their limits.

And when Lily first met the band that she had loved, way more than Tia did, of course she had to show up there first. Lily wasn't stupid; she noticed the way Luke and Ashton looked at Tia like she was a fragile girl that they had the duty to protect. And she definitely noticed the way Calum looked at her like she was the only girl in the world; even though they had only known each other for a week or two.

Sure, Lily had earned the attention from people like Michael and Zac, but Michael never had the chance to meet Tia and Zac liked Tia before he ever paid attention to Lily.

Tia had that effect on people, and perhaps that's what Lily envied the most.

Calum sat outside of Starbucks with his simple, ice-cold vanilla bean frappé. He wore his thickest sunglasses and a baseball cap; hoping he would be able to disguise himself. Being mobbed by his fans today was something he was not in the mood for.

He just sat there, thinking about everyone and everything. Taking small sips, his mind raveled around Tia. He didn't know what it was that drew him in, he only knew that if he didn't do something about it soon, his chance would slip away.

Among the four boys, Calum was seen as the most mysterious. One time, Luke even said in an interview that he would like to know what Calum was up to everyday. The boys were always together, yet there was still the sense of unfamiliarity. Most times, when Calum wasn't playing music with the boys, he was either just exploring around town or hooking up with random girls - the latter option was one he wasn't so proud of.
