"There's something beautiful and tragic in the fall out."

-Panic! at the Disco//Miss Jackson

***

When they both walked in, they already felt out of place.

The wannabe populars of their school were either grinding against each other or in the midst of doing other sexual innuendos in the living room where music blared loudly. And what made it worse for Tia was that the music playing was absolutely horrible.

"Hey thereeee, ladies, can I getcha' all some drinkssss?" A random drunk came up to the pair, and Tia immediately felt disgusted.

"Eff off, loser." Lily said, clicking her tongue in annoyance.

Apparently Lily's words only turned the drunk on more because instead leaving them alone, he just got closer; attempting to get his revolting, clammy hands on them. The two of them backed away until they were both stopped against a wall.

"What the hell?!" He yelled, seeming to suddenly turn sober. Tia glanced behind the drunk and saw the school's very own queen bee, Karen Williams. Her hand was above the drunk's head, clutching her designer pink purse as it slammed into his head once again.

He turned around angrily, ready to strike the person who dared to hit him, but his demeanor immediately changed to fear once he saw that it was Karen. "When a girl tells you to go away, it means go fück yourself, Kingsley." She hissed and narrowed her eyes.

"Yes ma'am." Kingsley squeaked and ran off into the crowd.

"What an idiot." Karen mumbled softly as she patted her tight and strapless dress down. Her exasperated expression was renewed with a bright smile that blinded Tia. "Hey Tia! Glad you could make it!" Her voice was chirpy, and her eyes landed on Lily. "And your friend?"

"I'm in five of your classes, bîtch." Lily muttered.

Just as Karen's face fell, Tia elbowed Lily in the side. "Be polite." She demanded. "She just saved us."

"I'm sorry, I'm horrible at remembering names." Karen scratched her brunette head awkwardly.

"Her name is Lily and she's super glad to be here at this party!" Tia piped in, hoping to clear the thick air.

Karen smiled widely once again. "Great! I hope you guys have a good time tonight." She paused and looked around as if searching for someone. "If you guys aren't meeting up with anyone I could get you acquainted with a few of my friends?"

"Does it look like we're loners or something?" This time Lily whispered her retort so Karen couldn't hear.

Tia just smiled, desperately trying to not get on Karen's bad side - that was something that wasn't as pretty as herself. "That would be great, actually, thank you."

"Yay! Okay, let's go over there." She jerked her head over to another room where Tia could see a sliver of empty living space. "You guys know Rylie, Kendall, Jake, and Vic, right?" She said as they approached a group of four teenagers, all holding red plastic cups in their hands.

"Yeah." Tia nodded her head, but the truth was she really didn't know who they were. Well technically she did, but she just knew them as the popular clique.

Jake made eye contact with Tia and grinned. He walked over, which earned him a few snickers from the group he left behind. "Hey, so you're the girl Kar has been talking about." He looked Tia up and down, but surprisingly not in a perverted way.

"All good things, I hope." Tia said awkwardly, she had no idea that Karen actually acknowledged her so much that she talked about her.

"Oh it was good alright." He laughed, lifting his hand up to run it through his pale blonde hair.
