The society had been decorated for the Diwali event. Manvi gets ready for the Diwali pooja, she wears the bangles and notices the burned mark on her wrist. She gets lost remembering the past her trance is broken by the firecracker sound outside.
She moved outside and entered the temple. Ruhana and Vineet performed the pooja and prayed for their daughter's bright future ahead. After the pooja, they headed outside where everyone was celebrating Diwali.
Aarav arrived and wished them "Happy Diwali."
"Happy Diwali Aarav late ho gaye ho tum" Vineet said
"ji bas wo ek case mein uljha hua tha.." he replied.
Aarav noticed Manvi sitting at the corner and playing with her dupatta. Ruhana looked at her and said "do saal Diwali ke din hi Deep ne.."
"janta hun mam.. abhi dekhiye kaise aapki beti ko fatafat sabke saath Diwali manane ke liye leke aata hun" he said with a smile.
He walked to her and settled down beside her. "Happy Diwali" he wished her
She smiled "Happy Diwali"
"yahan aise kyun baithi ho? dekho apne chaaro taraf kitni ronak hai.. aaj naya saal hai aur mujhe lagta hai tumhe bhi ek nayi shuruwat karni chahiye" he said softly.
She looked at him "Aaravji main..."
He stared at her and blinked his eyes two times. She said "bahut mann tha mera diwali pe ghar aane ke.. usne mana kiya main phir bhi gayi uske bina.. kuch samay baad wo aaya parivar ke saath baitha hasi mazak sab kiya! aur ghar jaake.. patake se mera haath jalaya sirf isliye maine uski baat nahi mani.."
He lightly lifted her bangle and looked at the scar "janta hun yeh kuch ghav zindagi bhar tumhe tumhare ateet mein leke jayenge par.. apne uss ateet ki wajah se tum apna aaj aur aane waale kal ko iss tarah barbaad mat karo Manvi. Tumhare mumma papa ne bahut sangharsh kiya hai 2 saal tumhe uss shaadi se bahar laane ke liye aur yeh baat tumne hi court mein kahi thi.. hai na?" he asked
She shook her head in a yes. "toh iss dost ki baat manogi?" he asked
"apne inhi ghav ko apni takaat banao aur nayi shuruwat karo.. wo Manvi ban jao jise dekhne ke liye tumhare maa baap taras rahe hai saalo se.. aur mujhe yakeen hai tum yeh kar sakti ho.. karogi na?" He asked softly.
She glanced at her parents who were standing with friends and speaking but their eyes were just fixed on her. Aarav picks up the cracker packet and hands it to her. Chintu calls him and he leaves from there.
Manvi looked in front and she could see her teen figure standing in front of her along with her parents.
"papa no! mannu ko yeh waala pataka hi phodna hai" she said adamantly.
"Are nahi beta.. main karta hun tumhe lag jayegi it's too dangerous" he denied.
"Mumma.." she looked at her mother.
"papa sahi kah rahe hai chalo door ho jao waha se" Ruhana said protectively.
"Ab toh main yahi phodungi!" she stamps her foot adamantly on the floor. She snatches the matchbox from Vineet's hand and runs away taking the cracker.
She places it on the floor and lights it. She steps back a bit but her dress gets stuck under her foot. The cracker was about to burst in front of her face she kicked it a bit far and it burst. She laughed "yaaay...."
Vineet and Ruhana came to her. "Mannu! kaha tha na khatarnak hai phasa na dress paav mein" Ruhana scolded her for not listening to them.
