Walking home from school is lonely, especially if all you're going to do when you get home is think about all the things you can't have. But from somewhere, I think I hear someone.
Wait, I know I hear something!
I pick up speed until the sound is completely audible.
"Hey, give that back!" An innocent little voice yelled. I run even faster.
It can't be him.
It isn't him.
"Ouch! Oh hamburgers, that hurts!"
It's him. It's Butters.
I'm sprinting now. No one will hurt my Butters, even if he isn't exactly mine. I find him in an alley, surrounded by four boys I'm not too familiar with.
"Lay off, fucktards!" I yell at them.
"Eric! Help!" Butters cried. His hair was slightly messy and he looked terrified.
"You bastards," I growled as the world turned red.
My surroundings gained color once again. The boys were gone, but my knuckles were painted scarlet with blood. I sighed and turned to my main priority. He was curled in a ball in the corner, sobbing lightly out of fright. I walked over to him and lightly tapped his shoulder. He shivered and curled up even tighter, and I felt the small heart I had shatter into a million pieces.
"Butters, it's me, you're safe now," I whisper softly as I stroke his blonde hair.
"E-Eric? Eric! You saved me!" He jumped into my lap and wrapped his arms around my neck. I blushed bright red, but encircled his small torso with my arms.
"Of course I saved you, but you owe me Butters," I say jokingly. "Especially since I'm letting you spend the night at my place."
"You are?" He smiles brightly. "I knew you aren't that bad, Eric! You're just a big o'le softie, ain't ya?" He poked me in the stomach and smiled.
"Shut up," I smiled back and lifted him bridal style, his face snuggling into my neck.
After a short walk, we ended up in my house. I gently put him down in my bed and walked away to the bathroom to change into what I slept in: my boxers.
Once I went back into my room, I saw Butters fast asleep in my sheets. I let out a dreamy sigh as I stroked a blonde piece of hair out of his face.
"I love you, Butters," I whisper as I kiss his forehead.
"Too bad you'll never know."
