I think a few hours later, I woke up. I could keep my eyes open and I could breathe a little better. Spot helped me sit up and I looked around.

The gang was all here: all of the Newsies, David and his siblings, Jack, and Spot.

Jack asked me if I wanted to try to walk. Spot grabbed my waist and lifted me down. As I landed on my right foot, as sharp pain pierced through my leg.
"Ow! My ankle. I think it's broken!"

Jack grabbed my mattress and set it down next to me. Spot picked me up and set me on the mattress.
"It really hurts." I told him. He kissed me on the cheek. His face moved to my ear,"I'll be back." He whispered.

I closed my eyes again. I felt a hand touch my sweaty forehead. It was Jack.
"I'm sorry this happened to ya, Lexi." He said.
"Ya don't need to apologize. Oscar did it, he should apologize." I slightly opened my eyes and looked at Jack.

He looked angry and terrified.

David and Sarah walked over.
"Hey, how ya feelin?" He asked.
"Okay, I guess." I sighed.

Not long after, Spot, Oscar, and a man come in.
"Lexi, this is Dr. Sandford." Spot said.
"No. Wait, we can't pay ya." I said.
"No, but he can." Spot grabbed Oscar by the shirt collar and pointed.

Dr. Sandford kneeled next to me.
"Hello, Ms. Alexia." He smiled.
"Hi." I winced.
"Okay, where does it hurt?" He asked.
"Mostly my ankle." I tried to sit up.
He grabbed my leg and began to gently wiggle my foot.
"It's not broken, but it's dislocated. I'll have to set it."
"Wait, what? How are ya–"
The doctor quickly popped my ankle into place. It felt much better after.

He examined my cut and put stitches in, too.

Once he left, Spot dragged Oscar over to me.
"Time for ya to apologize." Spot said impatiently.
"I... apologize." He said without any facial expressions.
"Whatever, just get out of here!" I yelled.
He ran out and went down the stairs.

I called Spot over. I asked everyone if they could give us a minute alone.
Everyone cleared the room.

"Thank ya, Spot." I smiled.
"No problem, sweet cheeks." He smirked.
I took a deep breath,"So, ya talk about me? To the newsies?"
He smiled again,"Well, yeah. I like ya a lot Lex."

He really cares 'bout me!

I grabbed his shirt and pulled his towards me face,"I like ya too."
He moved in closer and kissed me. I kissed him back. I felt relieved when I kissed him, like the pain had gone away.

Then, Jack walked in. We quickly stopped.
"I just want ya to know, whether it matters or not, I'm okay with ya and Spot." He smiled, spit and his hand. Spot did the same and shook his hand.
I wrapped my arms around Jack and hugged him,"Thank ya." I whispered.
"No problem, little sis."
