"No."

Elle had been expecting that. She hadn't even asked a question yet, but she knew that was coming as soon as Maggie and Glenn came home from the meeting held in the church. They had been discussing the deal made with Gregory, how they had to kill the saviors. Elle had chosen to stay home with Tommy, Carl, and Judith, but all the adults anticipated her questions. She would want to come along and help. No matter how much they trusted and respected her, Maggie and Daryl nor anyone else who cared about Elle were going to let her come with. It was too dangerous and the amount of people she would have to kill would traumatize her more than she already was.

"Not even to stand guard or something?" Elle tried.

"What we're going to do..." Glenn said, "It's not something easy to process, especially not for a kid."

"I'm-"

"You're not a kid, we know," Maggie sighed. "But this is final. Daryl already agreed. So did Rick and Michonne, Carl's not allowed to come either."

"Stuck babysitting again," Carl grumbled as he walked toward the door with Judith in his arms. "I need to talk to my dad, I'll see you guys later."

Elle watched him leave with a from on her face. He had a point. It wasn't even the adults forcing him to stay behind and babysit most of the time, it was usually Elle. She had left him to go to Hilltop, though that time he had the option to come. She had left him to go kill Pete. She had left him to go stop Lincoln West and the wolves. Now she was about to ditch him again, he just didn't know that yet. Obviously, she wasn't going to listen and stay behind. She was going to find a way to go with the group to fight the Saviors.

After leaving Maggie and Glenn to themselves in the kitchen, Elle made her way upstairs by Tommy. If that kid could keep his mouth shut he could be a big help in her plan.

"Hey, Little Man," she said as she walked in, planting herself on his bed next to where he was reading a comic book. "Remember the other day when I got really mad at you for sneaking out after I specifically told you not to?"

Tommy looked up with a questioning gaze, saying, "Uh, yeah. Why?"

Elle's response came out very fast, "Because I need your help to do the exact thing I told you not to do."

Taking a moment to contemplate, Tommy watched Elle nervously run her hands through her hair. He wasn't going to say no, but he could also get something out of it.

"Do you still have that secret stash of gummy bears?"

Elle should've seen that one coming. She crossed her arms and gave the boy a smirk, impressed with his negotiation skills.
