It took five minutes on watch duty for Elle to decide that it was her least favorite job. The anticipation was what killed her. You wait and watch for so long, looking for something to pop up, and most of the time nothing happens. Elle needed to be doing something. She was go, go, go. That was why she was so thankful when Ollie offered to trade places. She wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place but someone had to cover Daryl, Glenn, Michonne, and Rosita's shifts. Morgan and Rick had also taken off because Carol had run away or some shit. Elle didn't catch the details, she was more concerned about their numbers inside the walls slimming down.

"I finished organizing the guns with Tommy," Ollie told her when he joined her on the guard tower. "All the bins are ready to be put out and there's one pile on the side with the ones that need to be hidden. I checked and Tommy checked that everyone was armed so we don't have to worry about that. Tommy's with Carl now before you go all mom mode. I didn't leave a child unattended with a bunch of guns."

"That's reassuring," Elle said, lightly shoving her brother's shoulder. She wanted to talk to him longer, but that wasn't an option. They were down a lot of people and there was still a lot that needed to be done.

The first stop Elle made was the armory. The guns were useless sitting in bins inside the armory. They needed to be spread out. She put Carl and Tommy in charge of placing the bins while she spent her time hiding the guns. It should've been a team job but half of her team was outside the walls looking for rogue Daryl and Carol and the other half was covering the empty watch shifts that took precedence.

While hiding the guns was an important job that needed to get done, Elle was upset that it had taken her three hours to complete. She had busted her butt carrying all of the guns across Alexandria yet it still took an absurd amount of time because she was doing it by herself. That was why she was so grateful when Rick returned, even if he was only one of the seven people who had gone out.

She didn't get the chance to talk to him though. Tommy approached her almost as soon as she was done hiding the guns, asking her to make him lunch. In all the chaos of the day Elle herself had forgotten to eat, but she cared more that she forgot to feed Tommy. She decided that she could pause her efforts to protect Alexandria for half an hour and make sure Tommy was fed and had something to occupy himself with.

"The hell are you two doing?" were Elle's first words as she entered her house, Tommy trailing behind her. She had directed her words at Enid and Maggie as Enid had a scissors in her hand and was chopping Maggie's hair to pieces.

"I asked her to cut my hair," Maggie simply said. Elle shrugged, focusing her attention on making sandwiches for her and Tommy. She asked the other two if either of them wanted one but both declined. Elle decided that Carl and Ollie had probably forgotten to eat as well and made both of them one. At least Father Gabriel was watching Judith, he definitely remembered to feed her.
