It was quite a bit concerning how easily Elle was able to take guns from the armory without having to check them out. She could've just come with an adult and not had to sneak around, but she was not planning on telling anyone what her plan was. Her entire group had seen her on the brink of losing it because of Lincoln West, they'd call her crazy, idiotic, and foolish for going after him. Maybe they were right, but that would not stop Elle.

This hadn't been the girls plan all along, it didn't hit her until she was in the shower and she had realized how safe they were. She had the upper hand now, she hadn't had that on the road. She'd see him coming, but he couldn't see her coming anymore. Without having to worry about food or water or having enough energy, Elle could focus all her energy on Lincoln while outside the walls.

The only fault in her plan was that she had not expected Rick to be entering the armory while she was climbing out the window. He merely stared at her for a moment while she hung on the frame. Either he was contemplating why Elle was climbing out the window of the armory or why she needed a gun. Or both. Probably both.

"Elle," he finally said. "What are you doing?"

Elle hated lying to her family, and she hated lying to Rick more than most, but she had a job to do, and nothing was going to stop her.

"Don't be mad," she started off. She was a terrible liar, so it was about a fifty-fifty shot that this conversation went well. "I just wanted to go outside the walls to get some shooting in but they won't let kids check out guns without an adult."

She held her breathe while she waited for a response. This was one of her better lying attempts, but that didn't mean it was good. (Her career best had been her first encounter with Lincoln).

"You shouldn't be going out alone," he told her.

"Then what are you doing?" she countered.

"That's different," he defended himself. "And don't try to argue with me, you're smart enough to know why it's different."

Elle huffed, she did know why, but that didn't make it any better. Technically she wasn't going alone though, Rick just didn't know that.

"But," he continued, catching Elle off guard. "If you want to go outside the walls right now you can come with me."

Yeah, that would not work with Elle's plan.

Finally climbing back inside and out of the window, Elle said, "Nah, it's fine. You clearly got shit to do. Another time when you're not doing Rick Grimes stuff."

Rick laughed at her comment, but he didn't leave her be. He held his hand out, waiting for Elle to place her gun in his hand.

There was a small bit of hope left in her that he wouldn't do that, but that was naive to think. With a sigh, she handed over the gun that was tucked in the back of her waistband.
