Sitting and Standing

See the lamb, graceful!

She dances, and a child chases after the butterflies.

How blessed is their movement, and how happy is their chase!

The brown leaf looks at them, still and silent. He admires their laughter, he loves that which he can never achieve.

The girl is tired. She sits on the leaf, weary and panting."But don't sit on me" said the leaf. "You can stand up, while I can't. You can jump and laugh! I am a dead leaf because I sat down and cannot get back up. But if you throw me, perhaps you can put some life into me again!"

The girl laughed and threw the leaf into the air, and the leaf fluttered, few, and soared into the open sky before it drifted down.

So was he as the girl and the lamb chased after butterflies again, for he could live and stand for an instant against the pull of gravity, and laugh at the grey clouds.
