5. Bad luck

After receiving a lecture of Walter for wasting time, he gave me even more work to do. Now I have to file and sort out paper at his office, clean the corridors and dust of the paintings on the walls. And all that because of this ...man... is driving me insane. Also the thought that he might be a vampire is still not proven yet. Holy water and garlic didn't affect him, my guess is that his clothes protect him, but a cross might be more powerful against this creature. I hope I don't have to use the stake though, Ill save it as the last result.

Even though it is already night time, Walter ordered me to finish off the library before going to bed. I could hardly stay awake as I yawned every five minutes. It feels like this night isn't going to end all too soon. I put my headphones on and try to dance to the beat, yep that should do it. While thinking of my bed calling for me. Unfortunately a certain...someone had other plans for me.

In an hour I was done... no interruptions...not a soul in sight, I only had enough energy to get to my room. I felt relieved as I stood in front of the door...but then...I couldn't open it. "You got to be kidding..." No matter what I tried it wouldn't open and I had no keys for it. I was too tired to look around for Walter and I didn't want to take any chances to meet this ...man again. So, what to do? There is only one place where I could sleep...the place I had to clean up for tonight. The furniture weren't too comfortable to sleep on, but then the floor would be worse. It took me a long time before drifting off into a pleasant dream.

As I woke up later on I realized, I wasn't on the couch anymore. I was on a bed, tucked in by silky sheets. At least I could feel soft sheets, as my sight was black. It was somewhere dark. The curtains of the library are open so, where the hell am I? I stood up and try to get off the bed... only to withdraw my feet back under the sheets. "Bloody hell...its cold!" The floor was as cold as ice. But then, where did my shoes go? I'm sure I didn't take them off and my clothes weren't in one piece. "What is going on?" tears started to stream down my face as fear took over. "Hello?...anybody?...please...answer me" I was whimpering, begging for a single sound of something...alive.

But...Nothing.

All I could do was to stay there, in hope someone will find me soon. Because of the fear and the cold atmosphere it took me ages to fall asleep.

"Miss N/A, what are you doing here?" I awoke from an angry voice; it was Walter who didn't seem to be pleased to see me. "Thank god Walter, how did you know where to find me" "it's too obvious, since you weren't in bed." I looked around...it can't be...I was in the library...on the couch. "How did I...where..what?" "Miss N/A is something the matter?...Is this job too much for you?...if it is then you should.." "...I'm fine Walter, I just...had a nightmare...that's all." Walter sighted before leaving the room, at the door he looked back at me once more "This is your last chance...I won't tolerate another failure, understood?" I couldn't look him in the eyes as I whispered back "understood, sir." "And don't leave your shoes and part of your clothes at your bedroom door again, consider this as an advice and a warning in the future." I really messed up this time.

The following week went by as nothing else had happened...it felt like a bad dream I just woke up from. Now I was back to part time ...for the weekends only. I didn't finish my homework though and missed out school, it was agonizing to get back on track. Friends criticized my new work place; they assumed it means more to me than them. That's ridiculous, although I can't lose it either...I need the money. At the end of the discussion, they didn't speak to me for the next several weeks.

At work it wasn't any better. Walter is still annoyed at the previous event, even though it's been over a week and that creepy Cheshire cat is pestering me again. Seriously, doesn't he have any other hobbies to do? I ignored him while listening to loud music. It seems to be working...

...for about one weekend.

On Sunday morning I found my mobile phone...smashed in pieces. One thing is certain, it didn't drop on the floor and it was in several tiny pieces. Like someone had fun, violating my phone with a hammer. No one I asked could explain it though, no one heard a sound of a smash either. My only guess was that...stalker of mine could be responsible for this. He is the only one who has a motive after all.

He's going to pay for that, that's for sure.
