I watched from the windows as he sat on his horse, holding a flag up. The minute he left the castle, his men followed close behind, heading towards hell. I knew it will take months, till I see him again.

Meanwhile, the castle was become quiet.

No sound of horses or their owners celebrating, their wives and maids that have cleaned their amours' in the backyard, chatting the day away...it all faded away. Days went by and no sign of the count. I watched the land from my window, in hope to catch a glimpse of him...but so far...I have been disappointed.

What worries me the most to be alone, are the countless thoughts that appear out of nowhere...making me feel insecure. The thought of being a mistress or maybe more to the count, is one of the main question in my head...that I cannot answer myself. Sometimes I have to laugh at my own ways of thinking; on one hand I am his entertainer and mistress, to keep him in a good mood that is my job, on the other I am some kind of partner, wife and friend to him. But which is more important to the count? As his mistress I was giving myself to him, only to turn me down. As a partner I try to be caring and understanding, he doesn't want that. There are so many faces to the count, but which one is his true side?

"Miss, one of the knights had returned!" yelled a maid towards me.

I thanked her and headed towards the main gates. Once there, several men and women had gathered around the man, he was seriously injured. But instead of help, he demanded us to listen to him, "Listen up! The count lost the war!" You could hear everyone gasp at the news, but it got worse as he continued, "The enemy is coming this way, prepare yourself to fight men! Protect the women and children of this land. Don't fear for death, god will save us!" Once the crowd cheered him on, I had lost my interest in that man. I went back to my chambers, no sure of what will have of us.

"Miss?" at the door of the chamber, stood the counts butler, looking worried.

"What is the matter?" I asked him friendly. In an instant, he collapsed before me, cowering on the floor, "Forgive me miss, for I have not given you the letter immediately."

"What letter?"

I pulled one out of his suit and handed it over, looking away ashamed, "Forgive me, I have stolen the ring that was inside...I cannot return it anymore..." suddenly, he was lying on the floor, begging for his life, "Please don't tell the count!"

I told him to get lost and to never show his face to me again, which he did immediately. I sat inside the chamber and opened the envelope. His fine writing was the first thing I noticed, as I began to read it out loud:

My beloved,

Forgive me as I have failed you. My anger and fury wasn't yours to receive, it was meant for my enemy and still, I have hurt you instead. I hope god will give me the honor, of being in your arms again, smelling in your sweet scent and give you the love and passion you deserve.

But even so, my mind cannot bear of losing you. In this case, I want you to escape this place through a secret tunnel near the tapestry. I pray for the day we will unite again and to give myself completely to you one day.

My gift will be the bond of my promise to you.

For you all my love,

Vlad

"Your gift have been stolen...but my memories of you will never been taken" I said to myself, pressing the letter to my heart. Although it wasn't time to roam through the past, as someone was yelling outside.

"The enemy is com...."

He couldn't finish the sentence, as an arrow prevented him from doing so. As he fell to the floor, everyone was in panic, running around trying to hide. But it was to no use, the enemy has surrounded the castle, no one inside could get out. Knights on horses, beheaded men and impaled women where they stand, children were run over and the eldest got burned alive. It was a nightmare, even worse than the torture of the count's wife.

Through the corridor, I heard screaming. I couldn't see them, but I could hear them that made my blood run cold.

"I was informed that the count has an untouched mistress. Where is she?"

As no one answered, I heard something chop and fall to the floor, scream filled the castle once again.

"In the chamber...third floor..." said one of the eldest ladies from the kitchen.

"Oh no, I have to get out of here...but where?!"
