"I'm sorry Vaelra! I had no choises!" Ella says, looking regretting. I notice i'm gripping Falk's sleeve, and even tho he surely sees that he does not pay attention. "Ella, where are my boys?" he asks and seems to message me it's ok with his words. "Downstairs, i can check up on them, will i tell them that Vaelra is awake?" Ella asks. "Don't", Falk says. "We need to talk for a moment."
Ella leaves the room, shutting the door behind her.
Slowly i back away from Falk a bit. "Prevent moving Vaelra, you have been shot. You should be laying down, not sitting", Falk tells me gently. I lay down, since the pain is strong. "Why the hell is Ella here?" i ask. Falk looks at me for a moment like wondering if he should talk or not. "Ella is on our side", he says. "Without her help you would have already been dead."
"She is a soul eater! She changed sides!"
"No, Vaelra she did not. The lord manipulated you, she was forced into it, you know it. Your just a bit confused now, you just woke up and it's understandable", Falk says calmly. "How am i not dead, how didn't i die the last time?" i ask. "Ella did NOTHING to safe me, she stood still."
"Your alive because i saved you, twice. I came all the way to bring you home the first time and the second time Ella punched the lord in a way that played some time for you two. I brought you here, it is true Ella is a soul eater now but she was forced to do it. But i can't blame you for risking your life like this, i know how powerful marking is."
"Marking? What do you mean by marking?"
"You are very close to Ella, when Ella turned from human into a soul eater you two got marked. Marked people can read thoughts, sense when the other one is in danger and call the other one to your blood", Falk explains. "But.. But.. Can we stop the marking?"
"Yes. My wife was a human Vaelra, i turned her into a vampire."
"So a human can turn into a vampire?"
"Yes. To do that a vampire needs a permission to drink blood from a human."
I nod. "And how do i break this marking with Ella?"
"Simple, you two talk with your mind powers and say at the same time: we want to break the marking."
"How about Ella, can she ever turn back into a human anymore?" i ask worried, guessing the answer already. "She can't Vaelra, she will always be a soul eater from now on."
