Let You Love Me

~*Lan Xichen's POV*~

This omega is a piece of work. The fact that I am so attracted to her is actually quite intriguing. This girl makes me question how I view certain people and even omegas. I remember when Wangji told me how crazy he gets when it comes to his mate. Wei Wuxian was his true mate too, so it's only more intense. I am now starting to understand what he means by that. Xingyue was driving me and my wolf crazy and it felt toxic. I didn't care though because all I wanted was for her to be safe and happy.

I don't know why my pack elders insist on torturing her and playing word games with her head. Baoshan and I actually told them off the moment she stormed off. I spoke with Xingyue first but after, I told the elders that if I choose her, she will have respect. She has my token so she should already have it. I wanted to call her mine but it was going to take a lot of work to gain her trust.

After she stormed off I grew uneasy. I suddenly felt that I needed to go after her. Remembering her asking me about her village and helping her with charging them for prejudice against omegas. I knew she was going there. I only knew that she was from a village near Lanling, but as Shuoyue I seemed to have picked up her scent easier and followed it.

Honeysuckles is her scent, I know it is her. The first time I ever caught a whiff of her scent my entire body went hot. The sweet fragrance made my mouth water and I could feel my wolf wanting to pounce on her right upon first glance. The amount of restraint I had was a lot and it took a lot in me to keep it from breaking.

Going after her, I was already worried. The moment I saw that alpha pinning her down, I killed him instantly. Xingyue was accused of cheating but I immediately told the villagers that they will be punished later, as she is my future Luna. The man was quite surprised by my announcement and even questioned why I would take an omega as a mate.

I felt sick to my stomach knowing that it was actually true, there were many people out there who were prejudiced against omegas. They are blamed for seducing alphas but alphas do tend to do the same to omegas. A lot of the time, omegas are usually forced into a mating and they have to deal with the alpha that chose them. The whole thing was a mess for both parties but it wasn't usually on the omega that is the issue. There are some omegas, like Meng Yao, who do try to seduce alphas but not all alphas, like me, will fall for it.

I was now sitting next to Xingyue on her bed. She had snuggled close to me after her arm was treated for her injury. She has never submitted to me like this before. Was it because I helped her that she gave in to me? I am honored but I don't want her to like me only for that reason. Then again, even though she spews venomous words towards me, there were moments where she seemed hesitant to act in such a way towards me.

Perhaps she was a bit confused on how to view me. I stood against her once and she lost trust in me. She had very little trust in me to begin with so when I stood against her, that trust was completely gone. Now she was trying to keep it that way but I could tell she was cracking. She wanted to let me in, but she was afraid to. I didn't want her to be afraid of me. I wanted her to trust me. I was going to do whatever it takes to get that to happen.

While I was sitting here and her being snuggled close to me, this was a completely new side of her that I was seeing. She was giving pain medicine so it was going to make her drowsy. She was starting to drift off when she leaned more against me. Her face started to move more into the crook of my neck. I felt her rubbing her face against my scent glands. I guess it was not a secret that she liked my scent. It was one of the first things she pointed out about me when we first met.

As I wanted her to feel more comfortable, I pulled her to my lap. Doing so, she curled more into me, leaving her face in my neck, but her arms wrapped around my torso. As she got comfortable, the smell of honeysuckles began to fill the room. She was letting her guard down, which meant she was trusting me to keep her safe. As her pheromones were freely released, it was clear to me that she was getting comfortable with me.

I smiled and moved my left hand to the back of her head, allowing my fingers to run gently through her hair, "I will be here when you wake up," I assured her.

She nuzzled her face more into my neck and spoke softly, "I owe you a thank you."

"You don't need to," I said, "I would do it again anyway."

"You will stay?" She asked.

"Mnn," I replied, "I will stay."

Just like that, she relaxed completely and fell asleep. I was by her a couple times in the past when she was asleep, but this time was different. I was holding her this time. Having her in my arms felt natural. I carefully laid us both down and held her as she slept. Baoshan came in to check on her again but froze at the sight of her laying on me.

"Is she bothering you?" She asked.

"No," I said calmly, "she is fine."

"I appreciate that you have not given up on her," Baoshan said, "I'm sure many would have by now but you are quite persistent."

"Not only is she my true mate, but if a Lan wants someone, they fight for them," I said, "I know we still have a lot of mending to do but she is slowly starting to trust me."

"I think you showing up and coming to her aid is what helped you out a bit," Baoshan said.

"I know," I said, "I will be cautious, as she may only see me as someone who saved her and not as a mate. I want to be there and protect her and love her, and give her the life she deserves."

"She will come around," Baoshan said, "she may be stubborn but I heard Lans are just as stubborn, if not even more so."

"I know my brother is stubborn but I have yet to be told that I am stubborn," I told her.

"We will see then," she said, "get some rest. I am sure you must be tired."

I nodded and watched her leave. After she was gone, I got more relaxed again and went to sleep.
