~*Lan Xichen's POV*~

I was right in thinking Fengmi would calm down after some time into her pregnancy. A month into her pregnancy we had everything set already for her delivery so when she is goes into labor, she has her space. Baoshan will be here to help with the process as well as Horacio and his wife Ehuang. With them, Fengmi should deliver the pups just fine.

It was also discovered by Baoshan that she has two pups. Honestly I thought it'd be more but two is good. We can handle two. We have the nursery ready for them but it will be several weeks before they will use it. At least it's prepared. The elders, Shufu, and Wangji and Wuxian were informed of the news of Fengmi carrying two pups. There were two more heirs on the way.

She was due any day now. It was the middle of the night when I was woken up by her becoming restless. Fengmi was whining occasionally and panting, trying to get comfortable. Luckily Baoshan was just in the next room and she was still awake to hear the commotion. Xichen sat down on the bed made for Fengmi to deliver the pups on. Baoshan was also beside us was towels and warm water. Fengmi's head was resting on my lap currently as she was looking more and more uncomfortable.

"It's almost time," Baoshan said, "I can see her getting tense."

"I can feel it, I am using my pheromones to help as much as possible," I said.

"Good, it helps, and it also helps the pups recognize you as their father," Baoshan said, "I know it is late but I did send a message out to your uncle, brother, A'Ying, and Horacio. Horacio will probably come in after the pups come as I am here to help. I'm sure the less in the room the better for Fengmi's sake."

I nodded, "I understand."

Fengmi whined and sat up slightly and adjusted how she was lying down, "be ready, I think she is close now," Baoshan said.

That was when I saw her begin to push. I remained calm and steadily pet her as I encouraged her and comforted her. The pup arrived within several minutes and it was a light color. It was hard to tell how their colors will turn out until they are older. Once the pup is six weeks, they will gain their human form. It's interesting that if they were born human first, they wouldn't get their wolf until they were about five or so and then they get their second gender at around twelve. This pup looked white but I could tell by the very light blonde I can barely make out, it will be either like Fengmi or silver like me.

Once Fengmi cleaned up the pup it began to nurse from her as it was a natural thing for a newborn to do, "did you catch the gender?" Baoshan asked me.

It's a boy, Fengmi reached out to me, another is coming soon.

"Fengmi told me the pup is a boy, and the next one will come soon," I answered.

"Do you have a name?" Baoshan asked.

"It's a little close to my brother's birth name but spelt differently. Lan Zhen, it means rare, precious, and genuine," I replied.

"It's a sweet name. If the next one is a boy to you have a name?" Baoshan asked.

"We have a few set but I will say if the next is a boy," I answered.

"Do you have a name if it's a girl?" Baoshan asked.

"Of course," I replied. Before I could tell her anything more, I saw Fengmi getting ready to push the next pup out. It took a little less time this time and this one was also a light color. I could tell it will be silver though because I see the light grey.

It's a girl, A'Huan, Fengmi told me.

"Lan Ànhé," I answered, "Lan An is the first of our pack, Ànhé is just a girl alliteration. *- (aan-hwu) The word "an" is used to mean "calm and peaceful," while "he" refers to a "water lily.*

"Ànhé," Baoshan said, "it's beautiful."

Those are the only two. No more, Fengmi said, once they are properly fed and cleaned up the others can come in.

"Alright," I said. I told Baoshan that and nodded. She then got some fresh water and blankets to help make up a clean bed for her and the pups. Once they were comfortable we let the others inside. Horacio needed to visit to make documentation.

"We would like you to meet our two new pups, Lan Ànhé and Lan Zhen," I said to them.

"Zhen?" Wangji asked.

"I felt it was similar but close to yours," I said.

"It's nice," Wangji said.

"Where are your babies?" I asked.

"They are with Ehuang, Horacio's wife. We didn't want to overwhelm them," Wuxian said, "and aren't those two babies cute little peanuts."

I smiled, "they won't be little forever but we will cherish it," I assured him and looked at Shufu, "what do you think?"

"It's the story behind the name Ànhé?" He asked.

"Well, Lan An is our first leader, and we felt that a little girl would be named Ànhé after him. We could have gone with An but Ànhé seemed more appropriate," I replied, "we spent quite some time talking about names. Ànhé and Zhen were what we went with. Their wolf names will come out when they get older."

"They are beautiful pups, Xichen," Shufu said, "you two did well, and congratulations."

"Well, we now have two new heirs to add along with Wangji and A'Xian's pups," I said, "so whoever seems fit in the future and if they want the role, there are options."

"We will deal with that when we get there. You two now just need to focus on the babies for now. You both have leave for a good few weeks. The pack will be handled by us elders while you guys adjust to being parents," Shufu said.

"Thank you," I said. Soon enough, everyone went back to their homes as it was pretty late. Fengmi and the pups bed was much closer to our main bed. Fengmi slept with the two while I took the bed and also kept watch over them. This was just the start to our new chapter.
