Non of these looks were of jelousy. They were of distaste and curiosity. Their looks either said,

"Stay away from me you devil incarnate!" Or "Who is that? They are not from around here." Daren kept his head held high and stared at them until they looked away but I just avoided their eyes. Our plan of being inconspicous had failed miserably because of me. And I was the reason we were here in the first place, Daren still had hold of my arm, being his usual protective self. At this moment I was glad of it though. Even though these were only humans and couldn't hurt us it made me feel alot safer.

We hurried past a small square grey brick building without even glancing at it, people started pouring out of it in droves. Some walked around us some walked behind and some at the side of us, it wasn't until I glanced up that I realised they were circling us, Daren realised at the same time I did and we stopped still- causing some of ones behind to bump into us. An old withered man with short grey hair, marble like black eyes and pale skin wearing a red cape embellished with black gems broke through the circle wall to stride towards us. He held out a prune skinned hand to me which I didn't take, only glanced at then looked back to his face. He turned to Daren.

"How nice to see you again Daren! How long has it been? Three maybe four centuries since we last met." He said in a velvety smooth voice with a smile on his face.

"Four centuries as I recall it Adeptus."  Daren replied with a mimicked smile. I could tell there was a certain strain between them, and I could guess Adeptus wasn't as nice as he acted. Because after me persistently asking Daren had tought me some Latin and I could remmember the meaning of the word Adeptus wasn't sweet. It meant doom. So I could guess anyone with the name Doom had it for a reason. But what I couldn't understand was How Daren would have become acquainted with a man named Doom. I mean he hadn't exactly been open about his past but Daren was a good guy so I had assumed there wasn't anything about his past I desperately needed to know. I glanced up at Daren. He looked slightly uncomfortable.

"Why dont you introduce me to your friend Daren." " It's only polite." Adeptus said still smiling that charming smile, Daren hesitated for a moment. Then in a flat restricted voice he said.

"Diana this is Adeptus, Adeptus this is Diana." Again Adeptus offered his hand and again I denied it. I didn't want to let him anywhere near me.

" How do you know each other?" I asked looking curiously at Daren. Giving Daren a mock disaproving glance Adeptus said.

"Haven't you told her?" Daren gave me a quick glance then said evenly but just as flatly.

"She didn't need to know, all that is over. Done." Tutting and shaking his head Adeptus took a step forward, although he acted like a dissapointed grandad, his black eyes were smirking gleefully.

"Or were you worried that she wouldn't trust you if she knew the whole story." If it had been anyone else at this point I would have stepped away from them, but it was Daren I trusted him, I knew him. Didn't I? Taking my eyes of Adeptuses face I looked up at Daren with a confused expression. He looked down at me with sadness in his eyes.

"Daren." I whispered quietly. After taking a deep breath Daren said.

"Lets go sit down."
