With a lost childish expression Daren turned to me. I nodded smiling a half smile at him, in that long moment Daren smiled back. Then I threw my still shaking arms around his broad shoulders and hugged him tightly closing my damp eyes; which were filled with unshed tears. For a while everything was silent making me almost forget that there were other people there.
Loud clapping- or it seemed loud, broke the silence like shattered glass on a dark lonely pavement, laying scattered on the stiff lifeless body of an innocent victem who had been left and forgotten to eventually fade into the dull pavement beneath. Unwrapping my arms from around Daren I spun around to watch Adeptus applauding sarcastically. He stood swiftly from his grand throne, still slapping his hands together in a twisted mocking gesture, each clap echoed hollowly around the room full of invisable people because at that time I didn't see them so they might have well been really invisable. All I could see at that moment was the strange withered old man stood before me grinning like a real life cheshire cat. In a deep powerful voice that didn't seem to belong to him Adeptus said.
"Just one thing that you missed out Daren...
that I'm not a vampire...
I'm a demon."
As the last word rolled from his lips he changed. The papery skin that was wrapped around his thin frame exploded flying into millions of pieces which stuck to the glittering rainbow walls blocking out the colour rays from some of the jewels, other pieces landed on the surrounding party who to my utter suprise didn't even flinch as if they were catatonic. And a few of the pieces landed on me but having the skin of an old man all over me was currently the least of my worries. For beneath the thin disguise was a creature of the likes I had never seen before. one of the reasons being I had never seen a demon before and I had never thought I would encounter such a horrer as a demon because they were extremely rare infact almost exstinct. But looming over me was a large thick billowing cloud of ruby red smoke with two small glassy black marble eyes placed where they were only a moment ago when they were attached to a human looking body. A Fumus demon. It's translation was literally the smoke. It was thought to be an exstinct race, so hovering over me menacingly was the last ever Fumus demon.
It's black eyes were so shiny that they reflected things as a mirror would- it was like it was making up for the fact it had no soul of it's own by reflecting the souls of others, it's glassy eyes swivelled around in non existant sockets taking in all that it saw until Adeptuses eyes landed on me.
