As we strolled along the shadowy thin streets we played eye spy. Daren was thinking of a word.

"Umm eye spy with my little eye something beggining with  D."  I bit my lip while I thought, then I started with my random flow of words beggining with D.

"Dog, docter, deer, doll, dinosour, daffodil, dark." Shaking his head every time I said a word Daren smirked happily at me. I was truly rubbish at eye spy that was the reason he loved the game so much.

"No, none of those were right, but it is getting dark." He said with a slight frown. Raising an eye brow I looked questioningly at him. We always walked in the dark and he'd never mentioned it before.

"Scared of some shadows?" I asked trying to look serious and completely failing. With a roll of his eyes Daren turned to me. His light brown hair was falling on his face shrouding his bright blue eyes. People may of thought that he looked handsome but I just couldn't see him in that way.

"No I'm not scared of the dark." Daren paused to shove his hands in his pockets.                                       "I'm just wary of what might be hiding in it." I glanced around me trying to find what he was talking about but I couldn't find anything. All I could see was pavement, trees and flowers.

"I dont know what you mean?" I said confused, a small smile tugged at the corner of Darens lips.

"I forget sometimes that your just eighteen, when you have been around as long as I have you'll understand, I've met alot of people in my time and some of them I wish I hadn't."  He sounded grave as he said this but he also looked wistfull. As if there was one of them he was glad he'd met. Though he had never mentioned much about the vampires he'd come across. I wondered what the girl might have looked like...

she couldn't have been blonde because Daren was always making fun of blondes, maybe she had red hair or black hair. Her eyes must have been green or grey I imagined that she would have been tall and slender. She must have been stunning. Because no matter how much I moaned at him sometimes he was a great guy. Really great. Then again it could have been a guy but I doubted that Daren was gay. Not a homophobe but not gay.

"What are you grinning about?" Daren questioned raising an eyebrow. Shaking my head and smiling  I replied.

"Nothing, nothing at all." He obviousley didn't believe me at all, I sucked at lying especially to him.

"Don't tell me then." He said pretending to be hurt. Even his worst lying was way better than mine. The only reason I knew he was joking was because he would never be this dramatic if he was hurt- though I'd never seen him upset so I wouldn't know actually. Punching his arm I muttered.

"Drama queen!" A second later I was running down the street away from Daren so he couldn't tickle me. Flying past the trees I laughed loudley, my feet were bounding off the pavement. Then as I rounded a corner I was lifted off the ground ,I squeeled wriggling about. I could barely breath while he was tickling me so I didn't have enough breath to protest, he dropped me onto the ground and continued tickling me relentlessley. Lots of squeeking noises escaped my mouth making Daren crack up laughing. Finally he paused a moment to ask.

"are you sorry!" Vigerousley nodding my head I stayed completeley still. Grabbing my arms to haul me to my feet Daren chortled very pleased with himself, once he had set me down on my feet he tutted quietly.
