~I think I'm going to head back to Liyue now~

The pair sought shelter from the downpour under a wooden roof, presumably used by the farmers to store their supplies away in. Both out of breath as the boy leaned onto one of the pillars that were holding the roof up, looking over at the platinum haired girl. She was watching the rain her eyes flashing with excitement before she stepped out, letting the water graze her skin. She smiled as she grabbed his hand, pulling him to her. It took him a moment to realise what they were doing as she pulled him with her, his body following her every step as his arms were placed onto her waist. He cherished every moment he was with the younger girl, her presence igniting a fire in him which made him feel more alive then ever before. He spun her in a circle, completely ignoring the fact that both of them were soaked from the rain as she threw her head back, letting out a laugh. His heart fluttered at the sound, a smile making its way onto his face as he pulled her close, just swaying to the beat of the thunderstorm they were so carelessly dancing in.

The whole memory made its way back into the man's mind as he looked out onto the deck of the ship where a girl sat, rain pouring onto her, fingers tapping on her leg lightly to the rythm of thunder echoing in the distance. Her gaze was cast towards the sea, slightly up towards the gloriously illuminated shrine which could be seen through the distant fog. She was looking at her childhood home, the very same shrine where she was born and raised before disappearing from the nation at a young age of only 15.

He approached her, taking a seat next to her, not saying a word and letting the silence speak, for the silence was louder than any words they had exchanged in the past few days. He listened to her steady breathing, following her lead and looking out towards the shrine.

The both of them sat like that for a while, completely drenched from the rain before she finally spoke up, her voice breaking that of the screaming silence between them. "What do you want?" it was barely above whisper, a complete opposite of the harsh, loud demeanor she had displayed since they reunited. He kept quiet for a moment before putting a hand out, making her look up at him in wonder. The glare she sported yesterday was replaced with a quiet longing, a silent battle taking place within her mind as she awaited his explanation. However, the man only moved his hand closer to her. With a reluctant gaze, she placed her hand in his. He immediately stood up, pulling her up with him and spinning her around before pulling her closer, placing his hands on her waist. She felt a shiver run down her spine at the contact, but still placed her hands on his shoulders. They held each other gently, as if the other would shatter if they held on tighter. The boy swayed her lightly, leading their footsteps and she followed, a sense of familiarity taking over her.

"Someone I once knew loved to dance in the rain." Kazuha whispered into the kitsune's ear, making her raise her head to look up at him, her electrifying gaze falling onto his bright red eyes. "She always said that the rain was a friend, something to embrace, because whether you're hidden away or walking in it, it will rain regardless." he chuckled, giving her another spin before finally pulling her even closer than before, tightening his grip as if she'd slip away from him any second. "The first time she pulled me to dance in the rain with her was the day I realized just how much in love with her I was." his lips brushed over her ear as he spoke, he felt her shiver in his arms, but knew it was not from the cold.

"Let the rain wash away all the shortcomings of life." she whispered after a few seconds, leaning her head onto his shoulders, letting out a long sigh before continuing: "If you dance with the storm, it will forever greet you as an old friend. The thunder will be your beat as the waters cleanse your soul."

"It will forever be the thing that ties you to the colder side of nature." the man finished, feeling her arms wrap around his neck, her head resting on his chest as they sway, ignoring the wind and the heavy downpour. All that mattered was their hearts beating to the rhythm of their movements, to the sound of the thunder rumbling in the distance as their souls found the peace which had been lost five years ago.
