~I know, you also bite, kitten~
His words were cut off by a knock at the door, prompting him to get up to see who it was. He walked to the door with a slight limp, opening it to reveal none other that Kujou Sara herself. She stood there, handing him a pile of papers, "The Harbinger is free to go." she spoke before turning on her heel and leaving the premises.
"Looks like your papers have arrived. You can traverse Inazuma all you want." he smiled, looking through the papers before handing them to the white haired girl. He noted how her ears twitched and her eyes lit up as she skimmed through the pages.
"Well don't mind if I do." she finally exclaimed, standing up from her spot and walking over to the side to grab her polearm and the rest of her equipment.
She immediately made a beeline for the door, about to open it before the detective butt in. "How about I treat you to a lunch? Y'know to celebrate you being a free person again?" the girl's head turned to look at him, a slight shock evident in her pink gaze. "Why so shocked, darling?"
"Why would you take me out for lunch? You finally have me off your back, detective, and it's obvious you were only being nice to me so I wouldn't try to murder you."
"Well, maybe that wasn't the reason I was being nice to you?" he crooked his head slightly, letting out a sigh at the girl, processing yet another obvious sign of how traumatised she was. "I already told you I wasn't scared of you, not everyone is nice to you only because you're quite literally a murder machine, you know?" he walked closer to her, placing a hand on her shoulder as he looked into her eyes. Well, tried to look into her eyes because she had closed them upon hearing his words.
"But that's all I am, detective, I'm a Harbinger. Why else would someone want to be on my good side?" she growled, keeping her eyes closed and one of her hands on the doorknob.
"I think I told you that I don't consider you a bad person and I stand by my word, Keahi." his voice was soft, his eyes focused only on the girl in front of him. He watched as her tails sway from side to side slowly and her ears lowered slightly. "Let's go get lunch." his hand trailed from her shoulder, taking her hand in his, making her open her eyes to look at him. "Come on, give me a chance at least."
"Alright, but only because you've been nice to me and I don't feel the urge to stab you right now."
"You know, you being such an asshole is quite endearing." the man smiled as the girl rolled her eyes, opening the door and leaving the house pulling him outside in the process. It wasn't long before the man was the one taking the lead. He was in no hurry so he took his time taking her through the city. It was like he was making sure to show her every single shop and every single corner. "You haven't been here in a while, how different is it?"
"It's still identical." she responded, looking around, an image replaying in her mind of her and Kazuha running through the city with Kai chasing after them. They would hide on top of some roof, giggling to themselves as the older girl looked for them to give them a lesson about their little pranks. Eventually her sister would give up and they would come down, going to grab some food. She looked at the city lamp by the bridge, instantly remembering how they stood together under it, holding each other lovingly every time they would come to the city. It was the place where Kazuha first admitted to her that he loved her, leaving his whispers under the city light to be heard by her every time she would pass.
'Keahi?" he whispered, both of them sat on the edge of the bridge, looking out at the stars. The girl softly hummed in response, not bothering to turn her head to face him as she observed the night sky. "Don't you think that the moon is beautiful tonight?" this sentence made the young kitsune snap her head in his direction, her ears perking up.
"Kazu... What do you mean?" her voice was soft, almost hesitant as she crooked her head slightly.
The boy let out a chuckle, gripping her hand tighter in his before speaking, "I mean that you have captured my heart in ways that are beyond comprehension." a soft smile graced his face as he spoke, watching his best friend close her eyes. "You always close when you're embarrassed, did I make you uncomfortable?" he asked, making her look back up as she shook her head.
"No, Kazu, you just took me by surprise." she smiled softly at her best friend. It was her turn to grip his hand tighter as she whispered, "Also I do think that the moon is beautiful tonight." leaned her head on the boy's shoulder and he pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. She had closed her eyes once again, her cheeks turned a deep shade of crimson, but she let herself relax.
"I don't think I want to grow older without your head on my shoulder, Keahi."
"You won't have to."
