It is short I know but I wanted it to be ended and I thought I really couldn't go on much farther with it. If you don't understand the last line then go back to Chapter 11 when Jess is talking about thunderstorms. Chapter 40

Fuck You Jessica

***Louis’s POV***

-Many Years Later-

Things changed.

I was stating it as simply as I could.

Someone once said, “All good things must come to an end.” The person was right weren’t they? I mean of course he was right, he probably thought he was so smart thinking that and that he was great, then next things he knew he was dead. In my occasions that quote fit my life.

The whole story, mine, Niall’s, Harry’s, Liam’s, even Zayn’s, it was great. How many 19 year old kids can say they’ve sold two number one albums and toured the world selling out stadiums and arenas everywhere?

But, yeah, things had changed.

I wasn’t 19 anymore for one, and two I hadn’t seen the lads since my birthday years ago. Sometimes when I closed my eyes I could still see us all standing on stage, or even us and the girls laughing at something stupid I had said.

Even as I sat here, in my golden years, I could still feel the lyrics tickling my tongue making me smile.

Things had changed.

I was the last; most of them were gone now, my old friends. I was surrounded by memories and past dreams that had been accomplished, kids who would come up to me and ask me if I was really Louis Tomlinson from One Direction. A legacy was what we wanted, to be remembered, to teach people to enjoy the moment.

Breathing I couldn’t help but believe we did that. On the rare sunny days in England I would look up at the sky and smile, ‘we did it boys’ I’d think.

It felt strange though; everyday I’d wake up thinking Niall would be stealing food from my kitchen, or Zayn would be passed out on my sofa, but in the back of my mind I knew they weren’t.

I couldn’t say much though, not anymore. Harry went first in a plane crash over twenty years ago; they expected me to speak, but when asked no words came out. It went like that for each of them.

I wasn’t one of those senile old men who would rock on their front porch and thought, “yep, just waiting to die.” Life was more than that, I knew that, I’d lived by that, I even taught that.

“Uncle Lou.” A voice came from across the room causing me to turn my head. Smiling I glanced at the girl, or should I say woman, standing in the door way with a soft smile.

Crystal blue eyes starred at me for a minute before sitting down beside my bed. “Well, Delylah Shepard, how nice of you to visit me in my plain, boring hospital room! Finally come to bust me out? I may be old but I can still book it from authority!”

Laughing she pushed hair from her face. “So what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Nothing Uncle Lou, just figured I’d see how you were doing.”

“Oh you know, old, raisin like… the usual as last week.” I said turning my attention from my oldest “niece” to the ceiling.

“Really, how are you? The nurses said you’ve been quieter these last few days.”

“I’m fine, love, just think about the past.”

The room stayed silent for a while before her soft voice spoke up. “You know it’s been ten years since mum passed, six since dad. I can still remember dad and mum taking me on you and the boy’s tour bus and showing me around. Everything was so wonderful then.”

“Lylah, things can still be wonderful, you still have a life ahead of you. It’s okay for me to live in the past, I’m old.”

“You’re being a giant hypocrite right now. You and the others always taught me to live for the moment… or was it live while you’re young…?”

Laughter bubbled through my chest making me cough in surprise. “Both I guess. So how is everyone?”

“Fine I guess, Jay got into some trouble at school the other day, says he’s bringing out his inner “sass”. He acts more and more like his uncles every day, it’s scary.”

“I told you not to let the Malik boys around him, they’re just like their father and their kids are just like them.”

“Actually Uncle Lou I was talking about your kids.”

“Oh, well yeah know… Your Aunt El helped.” Shaking her head she got up and bent over giving me a hug.

“Well I got to go, everyone’s giving me a “surprise party”, Ryan is just like dad, can’t keep a secret.”

“Happy birthday Lylah, you’re what? 18?”

“Please I wish, this gal just turned 48 and I feel great. Well, bye Uncle Louis, great seeing you.”

“Bye love, see you later.”

Things changed.

We weren’t the five lads in the stairs anymore.

Well, you’re the one lad in the hospital room.

Grinning I looked outside at the greying sky. A thunderstorm rolling in, in the distance.

“Fuck you Jessica and your beautiful thunderstorms. Remind me when I die to kick your ass. Your daughter has a party to got to.”

FIN.

For real this time.
