Chapter 39

Say It How It Is

***Jessica’s POV***

The small glimmer of hope I had when I first walked through my childhood home was crushed as soon as my mother and father arrived. I knew my parents like the back of my hand, like any child would memorize every stich of her favorite stuffed animal. Though I knew they were cold, and all around dickish, I never would have guessed them to say what they said to me.

It started out how I figured it would; my father would look at me surprised and even happy before his gaze turned icy again, my mother walked forward and would give me the most awkward hug I had ever had. I couldn’t help but compare it to the hug Nounou had given me when I first arrived. The turn of events that I had never expected just so happened to be about my daughter and fiancé a few feet away.

“So this is it.” My mother said first as she glared down at the baby girl in Niall’s arms. Niall wrapped Lylah tighter in his arms as he gave my mother a small smile.

“Yes mother this is my daughter Delylah and this is Niall my fiancé.”

My father continued to stare at Niall before pulling something out that I could only think to be a checkbook. “How much?”

“Excuse me sir?”

“How much for you to take it,” He said motioning to Delylah.  “And get out my family’s life. Jessica is going to run the company; she has no time for playing mother with a petty Popstar.”

I felt my blood boil in my skin as the words came out of his mouth. Without so much of a glance at Niall I motioned for him to leave. “Niall, it’s about time to feed Delylah. Why don’t you go to the kitchen to do that? Shut the door on your way out please.”

“Princess-.”

“Niall.” I warned making him nod his head and walk out.

Turning back to my parents I glared. “How dare you,” I began, my breath becoming shallow my voice becoming thick. “I love Niall, Popstar or not you can’t just pay him off and expect him to leave. Unlike you two we aren’t marrying out of money, we actually love each other. That little girl is an example of that love. I knew you two were horrible but quite honestly I didn’t think you were that bad! So bravo, mother, father! You succeeded in one thing, you are worse than I ever gave you credit for!”

“Don’t speak to us that way! We raised you! We deserve respect from you young lady!”

“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” I screamed making the house go silent, adrenalin pumped through my veins as I looked them in the eyes; my arms tensed at my sides, and my fist in tight balls. “You didn’t raise me! All the nannies?! What the hell do you think you were paying them for? Do you even realize how many nights I stayed up waiting by the door for you to come kiss me goodnight?! You aren’t good enough to be parents; you don’t deserve to be parents! I’m 20-years-old; I make my own decisions now. And though she wasn’t planned that child in there was the best I ever made. So fuck you; you don’t deserve my respect and you sure as hell don’t deserve my sympathy. You two are a piece of work, so maybe you do deserve one thing: each other.”
