Shmi Skywalker didn't know what to do, she didn't know how she was going to tell Jango, how he was going to react, how she would tell Anakin, and how he would react. She needed time to think about what she had been told and how to deal with it.
Shmi watched as Anakin was working on the old speeder in their garage. He always loved to play with machines, and even though that was all he did as a slave, he still enjoyed it.
"Ani, would you rather go out to a restaurant for dinner tonight, or stay home." Shmi wanted to spend more time with her son, he had been so distant ever since he had left Tatooine and spent time on Naboo. "I would like to go out for dinner mom." Anakin said with a smile on his face. Shim smiled "Well let's get you ready, I have big news for you."
Vader knew what the surprise was but he either needed to act surprised by the fact that his mother was pregnant or he needed to act like he could feel them in the force.
"What do you want to get Ani?" Shmi asked him with a soft smile on her face. "I want to get the Mandalorian warrior soup." Anakin said in awe at all of the food options.
"Ani there is something I need to tell you" Shmi said in a serious tone. "What is it mom?" Anakin asked both curiously and concerned. "Anakin, I found out today that you are going to be a big brother." Shmi kept her face serious. "I-I'm going to have a brother or sister." Anakin asked happily. "Yes you are." Shmi smiled. A huge grin spread on Anakin's face. Anakin got up and immediately hugged his mother.
"Hello, how are we doing today, can I take your drink orders please?" The Twilek waiter asked.
"Can we just have Two cups of water please?" Shri smiled. "Of course we will be right back unless you want to order your food as well."
"Yea can I have the medium shaak steak and can my son have the Mandalorian bounty soup?" Shmi asked. "Of course I'll be right back."
"Tell me Ani what have you been up to since we have gotten to Mandalore?" Shmi asked softly. "I've been trying to fix the older speeder mostly. I've also been working hard at school." Anakin smirked. "Since when did you care so much about school?" Shmi smiled. "You told me to always work hard even if we don't like to do something, so I thought I should work hard in school." Anakin said, looking down slightly embarrassed.
"Well I'm very happy that you have decided to dedicate yourself to school. Ani, I feel like we haven't been talking as much as we used to, is something wrong?" Shmi grew concerned by Anakin's hesitation to respond. "I felt really out of place here at first, everyone else grew up here, but I didn't. I didn't understand how people acted here and how things worked. I didn't ask you cause I was scared you would think differently of me." Anakin looked down. That was a believable lie right? Kids at this age always wanted their parents to look at them with love and support when they needed it. "Oh Ani, you don't have to be ashamed of not understanding certain things. I will always be there for you when you need it and so will your sibling, your aunt, and your grandparents. You are not alone, Ani, don't try to understand things without the help from someone you love." Shmi said looking down in Anakin's eyes seeing his emotions. "I didn't think you would look at me the same way if I told you." Anakin started looking down at his feet. "Anakin looked at me, Anakin looked up, why did you think that you couldn't ask me for help." Shmi asked, heartbroken by her son's confession.
Vader realized just how well his lie was as he felt her sadness from what he said. Vader simply responded "You seemed happy with being back home and I didn't want to be a problem.
"Oh Ani, you're never a problem for me. She reached for his hand under the table and squeezed it to show her love. I love you Ani. Shmi stood up and gave Anakin a hug " I love you too mom, and I love my new sibling." "They love you too, Ani."
Vader felt really bad about lying to his mother. He wanted to tell her the truth so bad. For her safety he couldn't though. He didn't want her to get hurt again after what had happened originally. He could only hope and pray that Jango reacted positively to the pregnancy.
"Your thoughts dwell on other people's chosen one. You are thinking too much of your Queen and future wife than focusing on your training." Alpha stated " I know I must clear my mind but I'm worried about her. This is a big moment in her life. The Republic let the trade federation off with the smallest consequences possible. Besides, I don't think it's good to even marry her this time." Anakin grimaced thinking of what he had done. The image of a crying and begging Padmé holding her throat on mustafar popped into his head.
"Relax, choose one. You and her were made for each other. It would be impossible to find balance within yourself without the love and connection you two share. Even now the force changes paths and speaks to her. No matter how wealthy or handsome or how smooth of a talker the next suitor for her is, she does not allow herself to see them. Subconsciously she waits for you, for without each other, you are both doomed for sadness and pain. Only through each other can you take away the others' pain." Alpha stated.
Shmi Skywalker had asked Jango if she could come over to his place for a little bit of time tonight. She had sent Anakin to his grandparents while she went to Jango's.
Shmi buzzed the door and was answered almost immediately by Jango.
"Hello darling, what brings you here on such short notice?" Jango smirked. "Jambi I have something important to tell you, Jango inclined his head, Jango... I'm pregnant." Shmi worried over his reaction.
Jango responded with a kiss on Shmi's lips and pulled her to him. Shim simply smiled and kissed him back.
"I take it you're happy with this." Shmi gasped as Jango kissed her neck. "I am very happy with his Shmi, this baby is the product of our love darling." Jango grinned. "Did you tell your son yet?" Jango's fave grew concerned. "Yes I did but he didn't give me a super clear reaction besides I love you." Shmi looked up into his eyes. "Then I believe he is ok with it."
Shmi was making breakfast in the morning when she felt Jango's strong arms wrap around her. "Good morning darling." Jango smiled and put his head in the crook between Shmi's head and neck. "Good morning to you too sweetheart. Our baby girl had me up early." Shmi smiled. "Already thinking it's a girl, darling." Jango smirked. "A mother always knows." Shmi smiled as she finished cooking Jango's breakfast.
Shrieks of crying were than heard from down the hallway telling them at Boba was awake. Jango grabbed him and cleaned his diaper, and then brought him out to be with Shmi. "Now all we're missing is Anakin in this little family." Jango said while handing Boba to Shmi to continue eating his breakfast.
After Shmi and Jango picked up Anakin, they all went to a museum on the history of Mandalore. As Vader walked with them, he felt a sting of regret at he imagined how this could have been him with Padmé. It could have been him, a pregnant Padmé, and their young daughter walking through a history museum about Naboo.
"Are you okay Anakin?" Jango asked with concern, as the boy seemed very distant. "Yeah I'm okay I'm just thinking about the baby." Anakin smiled. "Are you happy that you're a soon to be big brother?" Jango grinned. "Yeah I can't wait to meet my baby sister." Vader grinned, it was the truth. "Well it seems both you and your mother seem to think the same thing." Jango chuckled. "Between you and me kid I think it's as boy." Jango smiled and walked closer to Shmi.
At the end of the tour Jango dropped off Shmi and Anakin back at their home and flew back to his.
Queen Amidala had to prepare for the upcoming Festival of Lights for Naboo.
"Sabé." The Queen spoke. "Yes your highness." Sabé said with a bow. "See if you can find where Anakin Skywalker and his mother live. I would like to invite them to celebrate the Festival of Lights here on Naboo." Queen Amidala said. "Yes your highness, we will try our best to find them. Your majesty" Sabé said with a bow and walked away leaving Queen Amidala alone in her throne room as she held on to the Japor snippet given to her by young Anakin Skywalker.
