Thomas Syko was not a man of many words. He was also a man who was very hard for people to track down. Ahsoka and others looked all over the castle for him some nights, and he would be nowhere they could see him. Syko was an enigma. No one knew him or anything about him, besides that he was important to King Skywalker. Syko seemed to help him with politics and running the planet. The good thing was that everything was still the same as most of King Skywalker's decisions. The bad was that no one knew if they could trust this mysterious man.
Some created conspiracy theories that Syko had been running the planet all along from the shadows. Now he was trying to get a more hands on approach without being seen as anything too great. The Republic loved that theory. Republic Senators joked about it and used it to make Skywalker look weak. Naboo still kept their deal with Tatooine and were ridiculed by other planets for keeping a deal with a planet who had no true leader.
Anakin Skywalker did not care what the public thought. The truth was that he was the King of Tatooine and Thomas Syko didn't really help him with politics. He helped Anakin stay calm when his anger was close to getting out of control. He made sure that Anakin didn't think too personally about the laws he made. Anakin needed to be fair to everyone and not just himself.
One person who did see Thomas Syko more than others was Shmi Skywalker. Syko helped Shmi worry less about Anakin. Of course he couldn't completely stop her from worrying, because a mother is always worried for her son. Thomas Syko was a good man in the eyes of Shmi Skywalker. He was a young man with a kindness you didn't see in many people today. He was respectful and treated everyone the same, no matter where they came from. She was also very happy that her son had made such a good friend. Anakin didn't have many good friends, and it made her happy to see him with a new one. But she was confused, why would Anakin hide his friend from his family?
Thomas was in the library. He was currently spending time reading books about history in the Galaxy. He needed to know what major events happened in the Galaxy and when they happened. If he didn't know he would draw unwanted attention to himself. There was already enough unwanted attention on him anyway.
Thomas and Anakin were letting the Republic Senators gossip about them. Every word they said wasn't true and they had no reason to fight it at this moment. The main thing Anakin was worried about was, if the Jedi tried to make Thomas look bad. The way they would do that is by accusing Thomas of being Vader. Thomas and Anakin knew they couldn't prove it, but it would look bad if the Republic believed King Skywalker of Tatooine was housing a homicidal murderer in his home. Especially when King Skywalker was known for his very strong opinion against criminals.
Thomas actually spent a lot of his time wandering around Tatooine. He learned the roads and buildings. He met all kinds of people, from kind and friendly, to angry and rude. It was a nice sight to see. Kids were able to play freely now. Adults conversed on the street. People laughed and smiled. From what he heard from Anakin, people used to never smile or laugh. Everything was serious and there was nothing to joke about. The Hutts and slavers did some sick things to the people of Tatooine. He was glad they were dead. They were lucky no other Hutt planets had decided to try and attack Tatooine after Vader's massacre. Aurra Sing being the only survivor probably scared anyone from fighting back. Tatooine had jumped up massively on the happiest planets in the galaxy. It was now third in the galaxy. The only happier planets were Naboo and Alderaan. Coruscant was high but Anakin said it was a lie spun by the Republic. Most people who lived there were poor people who were being scammed by the Republic through taxes and the unwillingness to help the poor. Senators constantly lowered taxes on the rich on Coruscant, and raised the taxes on the poor people living in the lower levels. The Republic was a scam and held no focus on helping the people it claimed. Powerful Senators dealt in slavery and crime to keep their power, and made sure laws benefited them and not the weak normal citizens.
Thomas had been walking for hours. It was close to getting dark but he didn't feel the need to go back to the castle. He stopped to buy food and was sitting in the corner of a diner. It was that moment when the Senate announced that the Jedi would be going back to Tatooine for an investigation. This investigation was the Vader investigation. The Jedi and Senate both believed they had caught Anakin and Thomas. Senators claimed it was time that justice be brought to Tatooine and the galaxy. Honestly for such "smart" people, the Senate was very stupid. There was no proof to support any accusation. No one knew who Vader was because Anakin was Vader, and he was already proven to not be Vader. You couldn't find him if you didn't know where to look. And the Jedi had no idea where to look. A disruption in the force on Tatooine was the only reason the Jedi and Senate could come here to investigate. An investigation that should have been done months ago and proven that Thomas was a simple force user who was missed due to him being from the Outer Rim.
Anakin was still up when Thomas arrived back at the castle. It was way past midnight but they needed to think about how they would deal with this. Both of them thought no investigation was going to happen after they didn't investigate Omega's disturbance in the force. Instead they waited for an even better opportunity. They waited until people began to make up dumb conspiracies. Dumb conspiracies that the Senate of the Republic believed. Thomas believed that you couldn't make this shit up if you tried. Sadly it was true and they needed to plan for their arrival quickly. The Senators and Jedi already departed from Coruscant, giving them little time to prepare.
Thomas Syko did not sleep that night. He never even laid down on the bed. He showered and changed clothes. His outfit was now formal and made him seem more professional. Syko didn't want to deal with the Senate and the Jedi today. It was complete bullshit and he had a bad feeling they would try to force something. They might try and get under his and Anakin's skin. Try to get them to admit something that wasn't true and something they could spin around. Syko knows they aren't going to be fair with them. However, if they stay to the facts, everything should be fine. Even if the Jedi try to arrest him, it would be pointless. Syko could walk circles around them without a lightsaber.
The Republic Senators and Jedi arrived a few hours after he had dressed himself. Thomas was running off pure adrenaline and the force. It was times like this he thanked the force for allowing himself to seem invisible within the force and to keep his body up when it was exhausted. He watched from afar as the ambassadors were shown to their rooms. The looks on their faces were ones of fools who believed they won a game you couldn't lose. Sadly they lost this game a long time ago and they couldn't even see why, even though he stood in front of them everyday.
When the Senators and Jedi had begun their investigation, he could see the scheme from a mile away. It was as he predicted. Try to get him or Anakin to admit something without really knowing. They wanted them to say something they could manipulate and twist into something else. That something can't happen if you don't say it. Senators and Jedi wanted to interview Anakin. Syko decided that it was best he sent Anakin the answers so that Anakin didn't say anything he didn't mean. Anakin agreed and sat down. Syko answered every question for Anakin patiently and thoughtfully. He watched as the ambassadors began to get more and more annoyed with Skywalker's smug responses. When they were all said and done for the day, each person walked out one by one. They all bid each other a good day and turned around when Thomas Syko spoke for the first time. "Maybe next time you accuse someone of a crime, don't believe every conspiracy you read. It makes you all sound like idiots." Before anyone could respond, he was gone. They turned around to see no sign of Thomas Syko.
